Lionheart minor issues roundup

Featured Replies

I have a few Lionheart planes from over the years and enjoy them greatly.  a couple of minor issues though:

1>  Quest Kodiak-  Love This Plane!  also Mr Bill was very kind enough to forward me a gratis license for the Kodiak when it was released since I bought the old Kodiak from FS9! so props for that.   The issue is, no matter how gently I ease the aircraft onto the runway at landing, I get a dust and tire smoke explosion that would probably befit an a380 emergency landing!  perhaps the issue is mine, since I have installed a number of freeware aircraft that have modified some fx files.  was wondering if anyone else had this issue, or if there is a fix, or a "gentler" tire smoke fx file I can use.

2> Epic Victory-  getting a strange audio looping glitch when activating the autopilot, which continues to stutter, until FSX crashes.  I don't remember this from before, but I'm now using Win8,  hopefully that isn't the source of the issue?  any help appreciated.

3> Aerospool dynamic-  (might be solved) I had some issues, when I first made the switchover, with some textures not loading in DX10 preview.  I just checked, though, and all textures are now perfect!  strange,  I'll have to check flights at a few different times of day.

I have an i5 overclocked to 4.2Ghz, 16GB Ram,  NVidia 660GTX, Win8 64 bit

I think we are the only ones here. No responses to my 2 bug reports. Bill seems like a nice guy, and He's a brother in the faith. So a kind rebuke here - BILL FIX THE DOGONE WINDSCREENS

Hello ShawnG,

I'll answer these below in order.

Did you know that you can change your Effects for your aircraft in FS when you are not pleased with them?  You can find a plane that has an effect you are pleased with, copy the touch down effect from its 'aircraft.cfg' file and paste it into the config file of the Kodiak.

2> Epic Victory-  getting a strange audio looping glitch when activating the autopilot, which continues to stutter, until FSX crashes.  I don't remember this from before, but I'm now using Win8,  hopefully that isn't the source of the issue?  any help appreciated.

I don't think  you saw this in the manual and on the webpage, that the autopilot has a loop bug (already stated) that occurs (rarely) and the way to cut the loop (if it continues) is to blip the Z key, turning the AP system off then on again.  I haven't heard of it crashing a system before in the three years its been out.  It is loud when it happens.  Sometimes it happens 3 times in a flight, and sometimes it doesn't occur.  Its usually when it is achieving selected altitude and the young ladies digital voice states this, and then a jam of another voice overlaps and it loops about 10 times in 2 seconds.  But haven't seen it crash before.

And.. We were never able to figure out how to get rid of the bug.  We tried all that we could.  Taking out the AP system and using another would keep this from happening.

3> Aerospool dynamic-  (might be solved) I had some issues, when I first made the switchover, with some textures not loading in DX10 preview.  I just checked, though, and all textures are now perfect!  strange,  I'll have to check flights at a few different times of day.

As stated, I myself did the textures and they are fully compliant to the FSX SDK.  I have no idea why the textures weren't working on your system (before) and now they are working so that tells you something about DX10.  I do not care for it and do not use it mainly because it is buggy and usually malfunctions.

I have an i5 overclocked to 4.2Ghz, 16GB Ram,  NVidia 660GTX, Win8 64 bit

I hope that answers your questions.

hey Bill,  thanks for answering.  I was busy elsewhere and did not realize you had replied.  thanks much!

1.  I mess around with other stuff in fsx all the time, but haven't played around with fx files in aircraft before.  I'll see if I can find something.

2.  I gave the manual a cursory look,  but obviously I didn't catch that,  thanks for the heads up.  I did a flight since posting where it didn't happen.  thanks for the heads up on the z key.

3. yeah, I know.  I would hate to have to develop and provide support for DX10, since you do everything right, and it still has bugs.  I can't go back to dx9 though, the advantages of DX10 for me make it hard to return.  anyway,  while I was googling this issue, I came across a thread where you were asking around on a developer's forum about dx10 on the dynamic, and I thought I might mention that I did have the issues (tire and dashboard textures not working) but that it somehow isn't there any more.  maybe after I changed my AA settings in inspector? If I find what breaks it I'll let you know.

I would be greatful if you find out what the change was you made that caused this to become correct.  It bothers me that I did everything properly and it still didn't work right.  DX10 is a pretty 'gray' zone for us to work with.  There is nothing on it in the SDK's, no information on troubleshooting issues, etc.  Totally gray.  Sometimes I make a plane and its fine in DX10.  Sometimes not.
