August 14, 201312 yr Back in 2004, William Shea created renditions of three New England island airports for FS9, They were KMVY (Martha's Vineyard), KACK (Nantucket) and KBID (Block Island). They were very impressive scenery's with emphasis on the proper placement, design and texturing of the terminals and adjacent buildings. He captured the proper aging of the shingles texture to the traditional Cape Cod motif. When I switched to FSX, they were the first scenery's I installed to see if they showed properly, or not. Surprisingly, they all showed just fine with two exceptions. Fences and trees, which were either bordered by black rectangles (trees) or showed solid black textures (fences). As some have noted, not all FS9 textures are processed properly by FSX. Spoiled by Shea's scenery's, I elected to stay with default ones, until now. BTW, I attempted to contact William Shea to ask if he would modify those two objects texture, but his readme e-mail address was invalid. A freeware version of KBID was released this week over at Sim Outhouse. The creator, Falcon409, has done a great job in re-creating KBID with an outstanding terminal building as well as the work shed and its annex. For those wanting a William Shea quality KBID, you can find it here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=113&linkid=17200 Regards, Chris
August 15, 201312 yr It's an excellent scenery - have already made a couple of trips out there and am thinking it'll make a nice island base for southern New England operations. Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery
August 15, 201312 yr Do you have to be a member of Sim Outhouse, to be able to download it? I hit the Download button but it said "You have insufficient download credits (0kb of your 0kb allowance) to download this file" :( EDIT: No matter, I just registered and grabbed it. Nice scenery! Thanks for the share.
