August 20, 201312 yr My FSX has started to hang recently and needed to be forceably shut down. I looked at the event viewer log, but couldn't spot anything obvious. Last time it happened I was using Chrome to download an approach chart. Here's the log, can anyone see a possible cause from it? Thanks Eugene Log Name: Application Source: Windows Error Reporting Date: 19/08/2013 13:20:38 Event ID: 1001 Task Category: None Level: Information Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: FlightD670-PC Description: Fault bucket , type 0 Event Name: AppHangB1 Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: fsx.exe P2: 10.0.61637.0 P3: 46fadb14 P4: f7fc P5: 0 P6: P7: P8: P9: P10: Attached files: C:\Users\FlightD 670\AppData\Local\Temp\WER734D.tmp.appcompat.txt C:\Users\FlightD 670\AppData\Local\Temp\WER7438.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml These files may be available here: C:\Users\FlightD 670\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppHang_fsx.exe_6a7794a8ea9fa7fc2cbfc879c953e4f26c2e6c1b_1b818537 Analysis symbol: Rechecking for solution: 0 Report Id: a5a2f279-08f3-11e3-b21c-50465d70ad02 Report Status: 1 Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Windows Error Reporting" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1001</EventID> <Level>4</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2013-08-19T17:20:38.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>8224</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>FlightD670-PC</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data> </Data> <Data>0</Data> <Data>AppHangB1</Data> <Data>Not available</Data> <Data>0</Data> <Data>fsx.exe</Data> <Data>10.0.61637.0</Data> <Data>46fadb14</Data> <Data>f7fc</Data> <Data>0</Data> <Data> </Data> <Data> </Data> <Data> </Data> <Data> </Data> <Data> </Data> <Data> C:\Users\FlightD 670\AppData\Local\Temp\WER734D.tmp.appcompat.txt C:\Users\FlightD 670\AppData\Local\Temp\WER7438.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml</Data> <Data>C:\Users\FlightD 670\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppHang_fsx.exe_6a7794a8ea9fa7fc2cbfc879c953e4f26c2e6c1b_1b818537</Data> <Data> </Data> <Data>0</Data> <Data>a5a2f279-08f3-11e3-b21c-50465d70ad02</Data> <Data>1</Data> </EventData> </Event>
August 20, 201312 yr Download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html and copy the error reporting in the lower pane and paste the information here. If there are no crash reports, let us know. FSX froze at memory address f7fc. Your report does not provide sufficient information but preliminarily I would say you have a bad tweak in your Fsx.cfg, too high settings in your Fsx.cfg or display driver settings. Most likely a bad tweak. Many of these types of crashes can be resolved by renaming your Fsx.cfg to fsx.orig, restarting FSX and letting the config rebuild. Once completed. See if the crashes continue. If so, you can go back and rename your fsx.orig back to fsx.cfg and investigate elsewhere. These types of incidents should be reported in the AVSIM CTD Forum so I'm moving your post there. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
