August 23, 201312 yr I bought the software and now...I'm afraid to install it! I'm so happy w/ how I have my new Win7/FSX install and I'd like to make a clone to a couple year old but barely used HDD and I'm a little paranoid! My Win 7 Pro OS & FSX are on a single 500Gb SSD and all's well. I just added a hardly used & freshly formatted and sector-checked 500Gb HDD w/ plans to clone the SSD > HDD. After this is accomplished I would plan on disconnecting the HDD but leave it in the case in the event of the SSD failing, at which point since Paragon would be now useable in the clone I would hopefully be able to clone back to a replacement SSD. I've heard that Win 7's Backup & Restore feature could be used to create an image then boot & restore however some have reported slow boot times after this method. Anyone have good/bad experience w/ Paragon Disk Management 2012 Suite? I did buy it already for $39, but I"ve become paranoid about adding ANYTHING to my virgin install so haven't installed it yet. My initial search for information about the product was positive, but I've read a few negatives too since making the purchase. Of note, Win 7 was installed on the SSD after insuring SATA mode ACHI was enabled in the BIOS first. August 24, 201312 yr I've used Acronis True Image in the past Noel, to make a hard disc image. Was pleased with it. I've never used Paragon. I seem to recall that W7 Backup and Restore only allows you to burn an image to DVD's. I may be wrong. It's something I'm looking at myself at present. I may investigate Paragon. The trouble with Paragon, is that after 30 days, they won't give you any support unless you buy a support plan. Other than that, it gets good reviews. Seems to do almost everything, even includes a total defrag utility. http://partition-manager-software-review.toptenreviews.com/paragon-hard-disk-manager-review.html

I have several cloned drives included the one I'm planning to use for my cloned copy of my SSD. I learned later after buying this product which does way more than I need that they have another smaller app that does just what I need: Paragon Migrate OS to SSD 3.0 The easiest OS migration to new Solid State Drives! Presumably includes looking at 'alignment' and whatever else is needed and of course is good for HDDs too. Since I haven't installed what I paid for yet I've emailed their sales dept to ask if I can swap for this smaller & less expensive app. Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
