August 24, 201312 yr I was thinking what would really be good. What if MSE puts out the entire US in lower resolution. Something better (Higher resolution) than FS Altitude for high en-route flying. In addition to what they currently have. To supplement their current lineup. And a tool to remove areas (Put holes). Basically you cover the entire US with lower resolution for en-route flying so it won't take up that much space nor the length of time to load FSX. and then have the ability to have high resolution areas (A whole state or specific areas) or simply use another scenery (for e.g. I'd like to keep Orbx PNW) for areas that you want to descend into or have more interesting for low flying. This is what I really need. IF FS Altitude had a higher resolution scenery and a tool to put holes in the area, then that would be ideal. Although Orbx global is good for low level flying, for enroute nothing beats a good photoscenery. And a high resolution Phototextures is too costly (non necessarily money wise) and not efficient.. too much space and time to load and not really necessary. What do you guys think? August 25, 201312 yr What do you guys think? I respectfully disagree. Orbx/FTX PNW, CRM, PFJ, etc., provides the scenery at low altitudes and that, for me, is sufficient. If I want to fly low and slow over a region, I can simply enable my Orbx products. I can get some realism flying low and slow over Orbx territory and enable Autogen. Then, if I want to do a flight in one of my heavies over the US, I can enable my MSE States and I'll have a lot more realism than flying over the default, GEX, or FTX Global scenery. For me, MSE is not completely flat when on the ground at 100-300 feet. The Chicago skyline is there as well as NYC. There are buildings just like in the default FSX. Unfortunately for many, no trees. Even if you were able to have the ability to fly low over a city and then shoot down to street level detail as in Google Earth, some would still be unhappy. I just don't think we have the technology or the fs engine to accomplish realistic low level flights. My two-cents worth.... Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! August 25, 201312 yr Author I respectfully disagree. I am not sure if you and I are talking the same thing.. I am not talking about low flying.. I am talking about 35K altitude for airliner flying. For that MSE V2 is too much ..A lower resolution that takes less space and less loading time is sufficient no? That was the main crux. Something like FS Altitutde but with slightly better resolution and with the ability to load high resolution (the current MSE V2) in areas that you desire high resolution. This way I can avoid high resolution V2 MSE for the entire US. So the holes for low flying can be either Orbx or high resolution photo scenery. Hope that clarifies Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

Hi Manny, I'll leave my previous comments as they stand but I did not completely understand your OP and probably still confused. You have a very good and fast system and you should be able to render 2048 (HD) textures very fast at a LOD_Radius of at least 7.5 (my current settings). I have all of my MSE V2 stuff (almost every State) on two mechanical HDD's and enable only what I want so get better fps that way. It's a good topic for discussion though!
