Approach lights became "washy" after NVidia most recent driver update

Featured Replies

As the title implies all my approach lights now have a very bad appearance whereas before they were OK. Incidentally everything else is fine and I am very happy about the settings except for these lights blooming. What setting in Nvidia inspector would cause this please? Any advice?

Thank you.

Thank you.

Search for nVidia 314.22, as that was the last true driver suite written for the GTX680 card, before the next set addressed another....you will get clear, stellar results.  Make sure you choose a complete uninstall..and not a write-over.  Be sure to export your N.I. settings first before running the install mask. Then, reboot...bring back your (import) N.I. settings and have a good flight!

Many thanks for your help, i will give this a try!

You are most welcome,

If you GOOGLE the nVidia 314.22 driver suite, you will see that when they were released, there was much praise for the crispness and clarity the suite produced. I downloaded for myself as soon as it was released, and also sung its praises.  I also, have always had the 'Curious George (my nature...), making me download each and every driver suite release. To be frank, I have not really seen any truly advanced visual production from these drivers, and post release, that were targeted for the 700 series products. When I purchased the DX10 Fixer program, and with that had the latest release running the card, I could not clean up the fuzzy and just-off focus rendering of the FSX Global autogen in DX10 Preview Mode.  I still had the 314.22's in my nVidia driver folder, so did a complete uninstall of the current, and installed the 314.22's.  By doing that, that little annoying bit of 'off focus' hit the high road. I have pretty well decided to settle in with my current FSX settings, my N.I. settings, and this driver suite that I mention. They are all, along with DX10 Fixer on my system, giving me a solid, stable, FSX.  You can't ask more of the combo settings, and that's for sure!

Cheers,

Thank you once again, I am back in business with the suggested driver and very crisp runway lights, great recommendation!

If only I could master the PMDG 777 visual performance in heavy clouds - monsoon type now!!! it's horrendously bad - down to single digit and (limited at) 30 in clear skies! I spent the whole morning trying to strike a suitable balance but nothing seems to be sufficient to tame the appetite of this monster in terms of resources...

With this kind of performance it certainly does not encourage one to buy future PMDG releases, they became so sophisticated - and thus hungry - in quest of perfection and realism that our computers can't follow suite!!!

Have a great day.
