Taxiing to the gates....then what?

Featured Replies

Ok, i've been flying this sim for about 2 months, and i can take off and land a BAE146-200. The problem is, is when I taxi to the gates and stop at a gate. Is there anything else to do then? Can I open the door and hook up to the gate? or do I just stay there. I would think that you could refuel at the gate and then take off again from there.Any ideas?Dupo

Shift E should open some doors for you. And you need to refuel at a designated refueling station, I think, unless you use the aircraft menu. I just open the doors, refuel, and then, after getting another beer, take off for the next destination, hehe.billg

If the aircraft supports it, you can open and close doors with Shift-E. Whoopee. A few sceneries have moving jetways that you can activate by keying in a particular NAV frequency. But, that's probably not what you're looking for. There is an option (which I can't remember, any help out there?) to NOT relocate your aircraft when you file a flight plan. So, after parking at the gate, you can file a new flight plan and fly it right from where you parked. I find the downloadable Taxi Gauges great for doing a reasonable pushback, but SHIFT-P will accomplish the same thing if you just want to try it out. Ground will give you taxi commands, and you're on your way to another flight. You can re-fuel with Alt-A-F. Yeah, it's just a dialog box. I'd love somebody to come up with an animated gas truck that would drive up under the wing, along with baggage trucks, but that's dreaming. When I pull up to the gate, I shut down the lights and avionics and kill the engines. Typically, I'll save the flight at that point so I can come back to a dark plane. If you have no other plans for your computer, just minimize FS without pausing it, and when you come back, time will have marched on and the AI aircraft will all be in different places.

how do you start a flight from a gate with a dark, turned off airplane? All the ones i create have the plane already started.Dupo

Just save a flight when it's cold and dark. You can also save settings like better placement of the atc window and unchecking of the thingy in the views menu that makes the pan in spot view unreadable if you save those settings as a default flight.

Dupo,You could also download bc_dark.zip here at Avsim and start up cold and dark.

>> There is an option (which I can't remember, any help out there?) to NOT relocate your aircraft when you file a flight plan. After opening your flightplan, you will be given the option to reposition your aircraft at the point provided in the flight plan. Select No at this point to remain at the aircraft's present position. Also, if you file an IFR flight plan while in flight (handy for those times ATC cancels while you are away from the computer), follow the same sequence by selecting the No option when asked if you want to reposition the aircraft.Bruce

to setup a cold and dark cockpit do this:1. start fs2. goto select flight3. select and load in startup4. now shut off the engine, turn off the batter, the lights, etc5. make sure your in the 2d cockpit mode6. save the situation as colddark (or whatever else you want to name it)7. exit fltsim8. start fs again9. now load in colddark10. now change plane, time, airport, etc11. save that as rightnowviola!ciao!Brian S
