September 4, 201312 yr As someone who doesn't fly long hauls, or hadn't before now, should I just ask ATC for time accel or is it easier to get to cruise disconnect then reconnect? <--- that method seems like it would really tick off some controllers though if I popped up at 380 20nm from their airspace. How will the new innovation of time accel by the 77X affect flying on VATSIM? Nick Stoker
September 4, 201312 yr Commercial Member Nick, You can ask a controller for his/her permission. Personally as a controller I have declined time acceleration on my airspace only in case of conflicting traffic. As for disconnecting and reconnecting. If you reconnect outside their airspace I can not see any problem (better check with Servinof or other similar program for any traffic near you first) Chris Makris PLEASE NOTE PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at http://forum.pmdg.com
September 4, 201312 yr You shouldn't connect in the air. You can ask for acceleration. Jake Thomas - KLAX
September 4, 201312 yr Commercial Member Jake both of your statments are not true You can use time acceleration if you have ATC permission or in uncontrolled airspace and no conflicting traffic You can connect in the air normally. If what you said was true then in case of disconnection in the air we will not be allowed to reconnect. Chris Makris PLEASE NOTE PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at http://forum.pmdg.com
September 4, 201312 yr I edited my post to reflect it and stand by that you should not connect in air, at least in controlled airspace. Edit: disconnect / reconnect Is a different problem entirely. It is not the norm and you are presumably flying with a flight plan and proper squawk code, unless flying vfr which is not likely given that it is a 777. Jake Thomas - KLAX
