Featured Replies

Hi,

I use the ATC guidance and lnav to get where I am going and then the ATC gives me vectors to intercept the glideslope so I do all that and then when I engage the cmd b the cmd a turns off and when I get to 100 ft the autoland disconnects and the aircraft goes insane plz help

Hi Cooperwarner8!

Sounds as if you are a brand new user.  So first off, what you are trying is the "autoland" feature.  In the PMDG NGX as in the RW NG, several systems must be enabled before the plane will autoland.  These are safety precaution redundancy systems built in to the automatics.  Your best source is to follow through the first tutorial step by step paying particular attention to the descent and pre-approach checklist items for the autoland.  It is necessary that BOTH nav radios be tuned to the correct ILS frequency and with each having the exact same correct course set.  The procedure allows both autopilots to be connected once you are "on vector" to intercept the localizer course provided you are 1) within the 27nm localizer range, and 2) at an altitude BELOW the GS.  The automatics will not allow both autopilots to be connected simultaneously if there is an error in the IRS alignment or if both IRU are not in NAV mode or if any of the navigation systems is out of tolerance.  When only one CMD is active you are automatically restricted to CAT II minimums (100 agl) and thus the autopilot MUST be disconnected at or before that altitude on approach.  The aircraft MUST then be hand-flown to landing.  This is what we do in real life so it is an accurate simulation.

Again, my suggestion, is that you read (or re-read) the tutorial flight and follow the descent/landing sequence step by step insuring that you have properly aligned the IRU systems before takeoff and that you are using BOTH nav radios set to ILS course before attempting to activate the 2nd CMD.

Oh, yes, and this forum has a strict requirement that you sign each of your posts with your real name or set up an automatic signature within the forum utility section.

Cheers!

I went in the tutorial but it doesn't use the fsx flight planner, i just want to enter my route provided by the flight planner and select the approach I wish to land, can u just tell me what I need to after descent, I know that I have to turn the nav radios and set the course in both settings and set the speed ref, but what am I doing wrong because I cant get both autopilots engaged

Oops i forgot to sign do I just write my name at the bottom of my post
