Auto Cruise >= 8x --> Loading Screen

Featured Replies

Hello guys, hello PMDG-Team,

first of all, thanks for putting so much effort in the 777, it was worth every minute of wait. I really appreciate all the "little" things that are hardly ever mentioned but make the sim a totally different experience.

One of the things that i find really innovative and is a total gamechanger for me, is the autocruise. I used it already on my first two 10-hour flights but there is something that i can't figure out: Whenever i set the speed to 8x or 16x (regardless if manually or through the autocruise feature), and then back to 4x or less, i get a loading screen of some sorts for 1-2 seconds. Not a biggie for me, but on my first testflights i had 1 crash during the loading screen - FSX-problem for sure. I can live with autocruise at 4x or less, no worries, but today, when i was watching one of froogles videos, it seem that you can get rid of that loading screen ... but how? Any ideas?

greetings and thanks for the help,

Alex

I believe the loading screen you are witnessing pop up is due to the AI traffic repopulating as you switch from >4x time compression to 4x or below. The only way I know to stop this from occurring is to fly without AI traffic, at least while you are using time compression.

Have a gander at the Intro Manual.  I think it explains why this is happening.

(Not trying to force you to read it, but as someone who doesn't use the feature that often, what was written in the intro manual about it has already been forgotten...I know there are some notes in there about what all's going on though)

Thats odd, because i read the Intro, I really really did :) I am currently somewhere in the middle of the FCTM. And furthermore I fly without AI-Traffic, only VATSIM. Maybe the MP-aicraft in the session cause the same behaviour?! I will try it offline without traffic and report back.

Consider it solved. The problem was, that i still had the ships active and as these are internally treated like AI-traffic, they were causing the loading screen. With ships turned off, everything seems to be fine now.

Thanks for your help!

You shouldn't be using this feature on VATSIM.  Granted, their official stance is "as long as a controller doesn't mind, or you're not being controlled" (in so many words), but it's frowned upon.

Glad you got that fixed.  Mind clicking the box on your post that says Mark Solved so that others know how you fixed it if they see that they're having the same issues?

Wilco!

Of course i log out before i switch to auto cruise on VATSIM, i would not want to get my 10+ year account a bad reputation, now would I? ;)

Btw Kyle, thanks for your Videos in the past weeks, they were really great and I really like your style in regards to presentation of your topics... keep up the good work!
