How do you cause a compressor stall?

Featured Replies

We know the PMDG 777 simulates compressor stalls. My question is, short of activating the failure, how do you cause one? Flying through heavy ice storms? Flying backwards? Can you trigger the compressor stall without actively turning it on via FMC?

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

High AOA,low speed and high power?

Not sure if PMDG went this deep but a rolling takeoff is recommend in high crosswinds to reduce the chance of a compressor stall, anyway basically anything that can disrupt the airflow to the engine can cause a stall.

One reason why I always do a rolling takeoff, my engines are going through 40% as I'm lining up and I'm roaring down the runway the second we are aimed down the center line. That thrill never gets old.

A compressor stall is modelled in the failures, but are those the actions that could trigger one in FSX?
