September 11, 201312 yr Hi all, this is probably the first problem (actually more of an annoyance) that I have come across with the T7. Basically I've now just attempted a flight from EGLL-USSS, unfortunately it actually ended in a ntdll.dll CTD I think because of AI I've just installed but nevermind. Something that has being happening a lot for me on my flights has been that on climb VNAV tends to linger around ~1-2000ft before cruise altitude. I've attached an image which may show it a little better. Basically at this stage I'm climbing (or was) to FL380, I have a suggested step climb coming up (but it is some 300nm away just before the waypoint ELVIX, so not yet) which will take me to FL400 so that shows the aircraft has more than enough performance. The winds aren't quite visible but I'm flying into a slight headwind at around 50-60kts. Now judging on the V/S on the PFD, the aircraft lingered around FL365 and climbed at this rate before stopping climbing completely a few hundred feet above FL370. If I select FLCH the engines do not spool up but the V/S suddenly comes alive and takes me up to 380, I then engage VNAV again and everything is fine.... Is there any reason why VNAV lingers around and basically won't take me all the way to cruise altitude. I have of course pressed the altitude button to select 380 and not 370, the PFD would of obviously changed to VNAV ALT anyway. I can't quite figure this one out. Lawrence Ashworth
September 11, 201312 yr Changing headwind? If you are heavy and close to max altitude (you didn't mention what that was) and FSX throws variable winds at it then yes, it will struggle to climb. It's real unusual to see FL370 and higher if you are heavy. What is the opt? Dan Downs KCRP
September 11, 201312 yr Author Optimum was FL388, recommended FL380 but it threw in a step to FL400 but that wasn't for 300nm or so. I recall a MAX ALT of around FL401.The route is about 3-4 hours so I was only at about 25% fuel. I thought the headwind could of come into it but it seems strange it doesn't recover as I can climb fine with manual V/S or FLCH. Lawrence Ashworth
September 11, 201312 yr The transition from climb to cruise was fine tuned over a period of time during testing, so I am confident that it will normally do a smooth transition given realistic conditions. Once upset, it will be carefull with corrections so as to not upset the passengers. Pretty realistic. Dan Downs KCRP
