July 10, 201411 yr Oli, I got started pretty good without reading the tutorial just by examining out and reading afterwards. But there are people asking for the tutorials and pmdg wrote in tutorial #1 there will be another one. If they've not mentioned it, no one would asking for. Kind regards, Stefan Sondermann
July 10, 201411 yr ^ I spent months writing the Introduction and Tutorial #1 during development, as well as running the two test teams and overseeing the design of the Operations Center application. I'm sorry that isn't good enough for you, but my role here is much wider than just writing tutorials. You're aware actual pilots don't get "tutorial" documents right? They get the official Boeing manuals (sometimes modified for their airline's specific procedures) and they study them prior to going to the simulator sessions. We give you those exact Boeing manuals - we didn't "copy" them either - we paid Boeing to be able to include them for our "pilots" just like an airline would. Have you read everything in them? The Flight Crew Training Manual in particular essentially tells you how to do most of the procedures you'd ever encounter in normal flight. Wow Ryan. This is an amazing work. Thanks for sharing some behind the scene information. Philipp Schwaegerl
October 3, 201411 yr Some are left brain engineer types who love every gritty little detail and love spending hour after hour reading lets face it BORING manuals, others are right brainers who the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" was written for and prefer an example with the applied technical data that includes lots of pictures and wording like "Display Unit" vs. DU and all the other 2,3, 4 ...letter accronyms so frequently tossed about, at least until they memorize the definition! Isn't that the purpose of tutorials? I'm relatively certain after reading some of the forums that most of the PMDG market and support is made up of the left brainers but please don't disregard or slight those of us that require an alternative means of learning. After a serious accident that damaged the left side of my brain I was forced to learn in this way and have a great deal of empathy for all those right brainers now. ;-) Most of my time flying I'm now admiring the beautiful scenery and the views albeit simulated of the mountains and water that only a birds eye view provides. While my nephew might prefer focusing on the incredible way a spring loaded switch was duplicated on one of the 148 or so dials on the panels. Power to the lefties! Big Grin.
October 5, 201411 yr Ryan, first off let me express my sincere appreciation for your work on these tutorials. I flew both of the 737NGX tutorials, and went right for the first 777 tuitorial. You do a great job in putting these together, and they do a fantastic job of training us on the PMDG fleet. That being said, I will wait patiently for tutorial #2 on the 777, and don't let anyone else ruffle your feathers in the interim. Take your time and produce another home run. -= Gary Barth =-
