my current setup is:

 

i5 2500k @ 4.2ghz

4gb ram

500gb hdd

hd 6870

win 64

 

my question is that if upgrade the ram to 8gb would it be benaficial?

Yes. Windows can then assign things to the 'other' 4 gig, leaving more room in the first four for FSX. As I understand things anyway....

Simple answer...NO! Certainly not with performance.

 

If you are running other programmes in the background, it may help prevent hang ups.

Yes, it will make your windows environment run much better. FSX itself can't use more than 4 gigs, but you run a lot of other software on your computer that needs RAM as well.
