I would think it wouldn't hurt.. but .. I think it would help me out as well, yes? or save my money for something else?

Ciao!

The difference between the 660 and 470 as far as FSX goes won't be earth shattering.

Do you play other games? This is where you'll notice the most improvement.

If I were upgrading from a 470 I think I'd try to go to at least a 670.

With a GPU upgrade your actual increase in FPS will be minimal, but what it will allow you to do is run higher levels of AA and might help smooth things out a little.

What are you expecting from the upgrade? I've listed a few scenarios with answers as far as I'm aware.

Less noise? Yes

Higher FPS at in a complex virtual cockpit at an add-on airport with few clouds around? No

Noticable higher FPS whilst using 2x or 4x SGSS AA with plenty of clouds around? Yes

Higher FPS in many other games? Yes, in most games, but not all. In games that require a lot of memory bandwidth or ROP throughput there won't be much of a difference.

Basically, where a faster GPU would help in FSX is with lots of clouds combined with SGSS AA added through nVidia Inspector.

I'm on a 470 currently as well. It's still a good performer in FSX and given the bargain price I payed for it it's been very good value for money. However it is a very hot and loud card when you put a lot of load on it so I ve been thinking of replacing it for quite some time. I will replace it with somthing faster than the 660 thou as I don't find the performance improvment high enough to warrant the upgrade to a 660.

I have a friend that has the 660. He came from the 460 (slower than our 470) and he did notce an improvement but maybe not as much as he hoped for performance wise. Its cool and quiet thou.

GTX660 = GTX580. I guess it worth it.
