A2A map

Featured Replies

Is it possible to put the map that A2A uses in their aircraft in other addon aircraft like the Iris Christen Eagle II? which is what I'm trying to do

You could try. If it doesn't check the plane in use, it will run as every other gauge in FSX.

[Window04]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=1024,768
pixel_size=1024,768
window_pos= 0.000, 0.2
position=0
visible=1
ident=50
sizable=0

gauge00=WoP3_b17!mapscreen,  255,1,770,766
gauge01=WoP3_b17!map_settings,  1,50,246,232

That's the entry from the B-17 as an example. You could try adding that popup window to other plane's panel.cfg. Backup first, so you can go back, just in case.

Just be aware that the necessary files are located in the WoP3_B17 folder which is located in the A2A B17 "Panel" folder. The same is true of the C172 map files. They are in a folder within the C172 Panel folder.

To just add the entries as in the post above, you need to either specify the FULL path name to the WoP3_B17 folder or, more easily, just place a copy of that folder in your main FSX "Gauges" folder. Then FSX can find the files via its normal search method.

Thanks what I'm going to do is try to find a map gauge on avsim and use that

Well you can always stick a default GPS (take the 500, not the 295) to any plane and have a map like the A2A tool shows. Means reading the FSX scenery and displaying the contents. But maybe there even is something like FSMap (which is paypware) which for example streams the Skyvector stuff into the sim plus adding a symbol for your plane.

Mind you that every map gauge has to be added to the panel.cfg manually unless it uses a separate exe and runs in the foreground.

If you have another screen or PC available, you can also run freeware like PlanG which gives you a decent map, planner and extra stuff.

I got a cool map the GS5000 installed in the Iris Sim Christen Eagle II it does all I need and it's got more features then the A2A map

GS5000 doesn't ring a bell so allow me to ask where you've found it and if there's some description.

It's actually the CB5000 Nav radar Coos Bay

Thanks for the info. The description indeed looks like it's a fine addition. I may even consider exchanging the A2A map with it as I've already added some more modern IFR equipment to my B-17.
