September 20, 201312 yr I SURE MISS FSWIDGETS!!!! It is a great company that produces great products, and I am by no means put off using them because of their current difficulties with the servers. And I don't want to add my whip to everyone else who may be wearing their arms out try to get the horse to move. A couple of thoughts, though. Their problems reveal two things: 1. How much I really use the EFB and the QuickPlan. I feel as if I am missing an arm. I know there are other addons out there, but I don't want other addons (can you hear the 6-year-old tantrum in that?) I really do like those products and I wish FSWidgets all the luck in getting back up to speed. I'm sure no one wishes it more than the folks over there do.0 2. And this one has implications for the whole Web. It shows the dangers the Internet society faces. When we become so heavily based on "the cloud," it doesnt take much to throw us back to the Stone Age. Things stop working. Just sayin'
September 20, 201312 yr Three days is a bit ridiculous. I suspect this is just the start of things to come.
September 20, 201312 yr Mmmmm.......will certainly miss QP...time will tell I guess. :Praying: Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
September 20, 201312 yr If it ain't up and running by Saturday morning I'm wiping it from my HD. Ya THAT will show em!!! ROFL Jay
September 21, 201312 yr Hi jtwhite and others, We've posted an update on our main landing page with the status of the outage. At the moment (literally) our data is being migrated across to a new rack, this process alone will take 12 hours as it contains all of our mapping and worldwide terrain data and database(s). We're hosted in the Irvine Data Centre, California and we're based in Australia, East Coast. The guys in the data centre know what they're doing and the process is underway. Due to the apparent deliberate attempt to bring our site down, and on the advice of our hosting technical team, we are transferring to a faster more secure environment. Thanks to those who are showing patience, and apologies to those who are running out of it. John Hnidec FSWidgets
September 23, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hi guys, it's nice to be missed, and we appreciate all your kind comments and confidence. Since more than 24 hours ago now our new server came online and all apps should now be loading the mapping engine properly, see our main FSWidgets landing page for details. What you say jtwhite in your second point is very true, and it just shows no one is bullet-proof, as even AVSIM itself can attest to.
