Two graphics FSX.cfg entries

Featured Replies

I've read that having two fsx.cfg entries can harm performance in DX10. However, when I try to get rid of one of the entries, my FSX reverts to another display resolution on startup. Resetting it to the correct value creates a second entry in the fsx.cfg file:

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0]
Mode=1920x1080x32
Anisotropic=1

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0.0]
Mode=1920x1080x32
Anisotropic=1

How do I keep from getting a second entry popping up?

Hello Brendan

You don't need to remove the second entry.

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0] <- This one is for DX9

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0.0] <- This one is for DX10

FSX uses one or the other, depends if you are using DX9 OR DX10

As for the reference to frogs post:

Every DISPLAY entry you have in your cfg essentially splits up the frames; in this case you added a second one, the "0.0" which was when you selected directx 10 which halved your frame rate.

That is NOT correct, FSX is smart enough not to do what he states.

Cheers

Ramón.

I have responded to frogs with a pm, Ramon, but I think I will ask Jim to delete it entirely, as it's going to cause a lot of grief. Thanks for jumping in here.  :wink:
