October 9, 201312 yr Is it possible to assign shortcut key to DUs that do not have a short cut key assigned? I'd like to assign a short cut key to the lower DU so that it can be pulled up and enlarged (as when it is mouse clicked). This may not be the right thread for this; however I'd also like to create a new (adjusted) default forward (Main) Virtual Cockpit view so that when I need to "reset" the VC view to forward, it snaps back to a more useful location. The FSX default keyboard combo for this action is Ctrl + Spacebar. I currently have this assigned to a "stick" button but I'm not very happy with the view (perspective) it is giving. Hope I explained this OK. Thank you, Ken Boardman Ken Boardman

Pop up shortcuts are not "assigned," really, in the sense that a lot of people assume. The key commands are simply a result of FSX looking at the panel.cfg and assigning them a number. Shift + that number gets you that panel. Anything over 9 or 0 (I forget which) cannot be pulled with the Shift command. This is why you won't see these key commands in the key commands assignment screen - it's a function of the sim directly. Kyle Rodgers
October 9, 201312 yr Author Thanks Kyle. Not sure if it's worth the trouble but perhaps it can be done by creating a custom camera view. What do you think about this? How difficult is it to create custom camera views? Seems I remember the SDK offering something to do this. Best regards, Ken Ken Boardman

That or just hold the spacebar and drag the mouse over to look over at it. Other than that, though, I haven't much experience with messing with the panel.cfg file. Kyle Rodgers
