In addition, the Microsoft Task Manager replacement app, Process Explorer, allows you to manually kill or suspend unneeded apps. You can find download sites for all these apps easily with Google. Generally, you probably won't see much improvement in FSX frame rates by stopping background processes, unless your computer is very old and slow. And a drawback of doing so is you may accidently stop a background process that is needed by the OS and cause a crash.
