What can i do?

What can i do?

Your crash was caused by the API.dll.  This is the dll that makes fsx run and manages memory and it is one of the most major components of FSX.  If your fsx settings are too high or you have bad FSX tweaks, this will cause this crash.  There are no other possibilities.

Best regards,

Jim

I have to re-install my FSX due to a problem, but the fsx.cfg that i use is the same as before!It is not normal

If I understand you correctly, you should never import an old fsx.cfg into a fresh installation of fsx.  If you are saying that your new fsx.cfg is exactly the same as the old fsx.cfg, then it is not a problem with your fsx.cfg.  There is something else wrong.  There's a long topic here in this forum about the api.dll and someone came up with a modified version that works for some - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/389704-fsx-oom-apidll-patcher/page-4.  You might try it after you back up the one you have now.

Make sure too you are running FSX as an administrator.

Best regards,

Jim

Yes you understood correctly. I backed up my fsx.cfg and when i installed it again I just pasted all the files inside the new fsx.cfg!

You cannot do that.  With a fresh install of FSX you have to have fresh and new configs too.

Best regards,

Jim

Pfff all the tweaking from the start? :O Nevertheless i will send you my fsx.cfg and i hope you can help me a little bit!

I would not use an old fsx.cfg but many have.  If I reinstall FSX I want to start with everything fresh and new.  Some say that deleting the old fsx.cfg and restarting FSX and letting the config rebuild is almost the same as uninstalling/reinstalling fsx. It fixes a lot of problems when issues start surfacing during your flightsim sessions.

I see nothing wrong with your Fsx.cfg.  I see you entered Bufferpools as per the recommendation of NickN in one of his guides.  I personally do not like Bufferpools or Affinity Mask "tweaks".  Looks like you might have also followed the NickN's guidance in regards to Fiber_Frame_Time_Fraction=0.12.  Awfully low but recommended by NickN so I'm not going to argue.  Your settings do not seem high or out of the ordinary.

Best regards,

Jim

Ok i will make a flight and i ll let you know. Also i have setted my FPS at 30 without external limiter, but i get low FPS especially when on the ground without many airplanes in the airport. Is there anything i can do for this?

According to your fsx.cfg you have your AI set at 22% which is not high at all.  I'm surprised you are seeing a lot of aircraft.  When you are on the ground, Autogen comes into play too.  I would lower that or place the following tweak in your Terrain section:

Terrain_Max_Autogen_Trees=1000
Terrain_Max_Autogen_Buildings=800

Ok thanks a lot. I will make a flight as soon as possible and i will let you know of any problems!

  • Author

I have made a flight no problem for now. My FPS continue to be very low. When i landed the fps where so low that the screen freezes for one second, this happened 8-10 times during landing!

My autogen density is at medium!

Did you throw in that Autogen tweak I recommended above in Post #10?  You really shouldn't be having fps that low with your modest settings.  Autogen is a fps killer though.  I see you really don't have a whole lot of disk space.  The 60GB SSD will fill up fast and so will the 500GB HDD.  The Bufferpool tweak will cause major freezes on some systems.  Check your virtual memory (page file) settings too.  I found that System Managed Size works the best.  I remember have one second freezes occasionally with my current system and found that all of the HDD's that I have FSX addons did not have a page file.  I employed page files for each drive (system managed size) and the one second freezes/stuttering went away.  Go tell!  You can check your page file settings by clicking on the Start button and typing virtual memory in the search box then look up in the Menu and click on How to Change my Virtual Memory Settings.

Best regards,

Jim

Yes i have made the tweaks you insisted me in fsx.cfg. My FSX and addons are installed on HDD disk which it has a lot of free space available! In the past i had commented out bufferpools and fsx crashed so i enabled them again with lower reject threshold and poolsize! Maybe the low fps are due to my weak video card!

Your video card is not the problem.  The ATI 7750 with 1GB is more than enough for FSX since fsx is more dependent on the CPU than the GPU.
