October 14, 201312 yr I just picked up PFPX and made my first flight using it KLAS to KSFO. It was a rather short flight and my FP had certain STARs & SIDs. When I used VOX everything was fine during takeoff and I was given the same SID, but midflight VOX directed me to fly 3k higher than my cruise level which I thought was odd (any reason why vox would put me on a different cruise level with no traffic around?). Also, when I arrived I was put on to a different star than was in my flightplan. I was trying to see how accurate I could be with my fuel calculations and being on time to the minute with waypoints. Does Vox consider the PFPX plan for sids/stars? It was an hour and 20 minute flight, did the wind change while I was in enroute and that is why Vox gave me a different Star?

VoxATC does what VoxATC wants to do. I file my flight plans with Aivlasoft's Electronic Flight Bag which pulls wind data to get the right runways for takeoff and landings but Vox likes to just randomly change the active runway. I am watching the rest of the ground traffic go taxing to the real active and Vox will tell me to taxi to the exact opposite end of the runway creating a massive conflict with traffic. It is not very good at sequencing you once you get to your STAR either. Most of the time, Vox will send you off on some weird vectors to line you up with the runway. These vectors are in my experience the exact opposite of the current pattern that should be flown based on wind and traffic. Vox also has a hard time getting the Altimeter correct while on the ground. Somedays it's right all the time and then others it will be off by a few points, and a few rare occasions, off by A LOT of points. Despite all that, I love it. I finally get the Level D Navdata loaded for it so now it least it recognizes I am flying a SID/STAR. The AI controller just doesn't care about it. Have you had Vox tell you climb to some crazy altitude your plane can't even handle? I remember filing a flight plan for FL370. I get to 370 and a moment later the controller comes on and tell me to climb and maintain FL450. I was like...??? My plane cannot sustain that altitude! Are you mad!? I want to be as realistic as possible, but finding a solid atc program is difficult. I would switch to something else, but it seems like every atc program has issues.
October 14, 201312 yr I don't have any real problems with misdirected altitudes or incorrect rw assignments flying my IFL737 cockpit and using pfpx plans. I have all the flightsim ai turned off and just use the injected ai from voxatc set at a high density , weather seems to match the rw choices pretty well. sometimes I get instructed to climb a little after starting a descent, this usually happens as I approach the first way point of my arrival star. This is a little annoying and I have yet to work out quite why it happens. However I am also very much enjoying the program. Regards Mike
October 14, 201312 yr LIke I said, it doesn't do it all the time and to me VoxATC is the BEST of the ATC programs out there in for nothing else than the speech recognition. When it does mess up though, it messes up big which is annoying but I let it slide.
