View angle setting

Featured Replies

Guys, do you know how to set a default view in the VC with the view tilted upward/downward?. I know how to set x, y, z, in 3D view but is it also possible to set a different angle of the view slant? I mean looking higher/lower in VC?Thanks.

try{VIEWS}VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=10.0, 0.000, 0.000in panel.cfgplay with the numbersand find the set you will like

>try>>{VIEWS}>VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=10.0, 0.000, 0.000>>in panel.cfg>>play with the numbers>and find the set you will likeThe above line changed my default direct view in 2D cockpit. But what I need to set is a default view in 3D (virtual cockpit). And not only position of the head along X,Y,Z axes, but also direction of the default view, which I want to tilt downward a bit. Guys, anyone still remembers how to do that?

After going from the 2D to the 3D your view angle will be changed. The example of VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=10.0, 0.000, 0.000 in the panel.cfg Should have you looking down in the VC, after going from the full screen 2D panel to the 3DVC.In the aircraft.cfg the sectionViewseyepoint=0.50,-0.90,2.40 sets your eye point front/back, left/right, up/down. sets the exact point along the XYZthe Panel.cfg of VIEWSview_forward_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANELVIEW_FORWARD_ZOOM=1.0VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.0, 0.0, 0.5Sets the defualt zoom to 1.0, and in this case looks down a little and to the right slightly. as if you used the hat to look down and to the right. its basically Pitch, roll, yaw for the eyepoint.VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 90 eye paralell to ground looking hard rightVIEW_FORWARD_DIR=10.0, 0.0, 00 eye looking downword , straight ahead

Please note I was not gonna change anything in the 2D view from the very beginning, sorry if I didn't manage to arcticulate it clear. Closed.eyepoint=0.50,-0.90,2.40 in the aircraft.cfg is the answer, but only part of the answer. In addition to the XYZ settings I want to lower my default view a little downward BUT leave my head in the same Y height. I'm sure there's a setting that can handle it. It's like if I pan my view with Active Camera, without changing XYZ-position of my head.Thanks.

That is the only way to affect the view angle in the VC, short of building a custom gauge that will force the view angle to change when switching from 2d to VC... Even that "kludge" is problematic though, since it would interfere with normal panning...

Thanks Bill, I always treat your words here as final.

"Guys, do you know how to set a default view in the VC with the view tilted upward/downward?"that's exactly what that line does for me... maybe it works differently on different machines;-)peacevilk

Yes the setting I suggested would change your view on the 2d panel. I made a few pics to hopefully show better how things change. the top in each is the VC and the bottom the 2D with the Panel.cfg modVIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.0, 0.0, 0.5and VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=10.0, 0.0, 0.5note the height of the view point is not altered. When panning in the VC your eyepoint is still tilted down the same amount.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/99613.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/99614.jpg

But what if I want to keep my head in the same X Y Z position ( in the Virtual Cockpit) but lower my eye focus downward? NOT changing my head position? You can do it everytime when you're using Active Camera Internal panning view in the VC, unfortunately not with the settings in the configs as it was already advised here.

In the photos your head/ eye point is in the same XYZ position. The only diffrence is its looking down slightly, as if you uses one or two clicks of the hat switch to look down or control+page down in active camera.
