BEX Error when trying to launch FSX

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Recently, when I've tried to launch FSX, I get a fatal error message(BEX module unknown). I've tried doing a repair using the FSX DVD but it doesn't give me a repair option, it simply says removing files, copying new files, asks for disk 2 then part way through disk 2 I get an error message saying can't install smart installer. I checked my file structure and smart installer is already there. Is there any way I can copy certain folders(Sim Objects, Modules, Gauges, Add-On Scenery, Scenery)so when I uninstall, I won't have to reinstall all my add-on aircraft, add-on airports, add-on scenery etc. Refer to my system specs/info.

Thanks,

When you repair FSX your fsx.cfg will be deleted, your dll.xml, and possibly your scenery.cfg.  It is best to backup those folders.  With a repair you should be able to run your addons if you move the backed up files to their proper locations.  When you do a repair, you must make sure you also insert the Acceleration disk and do a repair with that too.  Or, if you just have SP2 installed, you'll need to rerun that program.

Most FSX errors can be fixed by renaming your Fsx.cfg to fsx.orig, restarting FSX and letting the config rebuild.

Best regards,

Jim
