I'm hoping someone else has seen this issue or can point out user error on my part. 

 

First, my options in the FMC are set correctly to have the chrono control whether autocruise is on or off. 

 

Now the issue: occasionally when I try to leave autocruise the digits on the chrono turn red and the 777 continues to fly in 8x. I can't get out of the mode unless I manually reset it through FSX's menubar. But often it's too late and my airplane has flown well past the T/D point and my flight gets ruined. 

 

Anyone else seeing this? 

Not seen this reported before. Hit P for pause, then figure it out. A right mouse click on the chrono knob should take you out of accelerated time.

Yeah, I right click on it but then the digits just turn red and it keeps going at 8x. 

 

Pausing is a good idea though...
