October 27, 201312 yr Since I purchased Carenado's TBM850 I enjoyed several flights with this great aircraft after adding Bert's modifications V6 (thanks again, Bert!). But I have never found how to use the Go Around switch, which should move the Flight Director to the 7.5 deg pitch up position. Does it exist at all? I guess it's the red button on the throttle stick, but it seems to be inoperative. Or do I miss something? A second issue seems to be the SPD switch on the autopilot. Unlike the description given in the original G1000 manual for the TBM850 it seems to activate a non-existing autothrottle speed mode. Do you have the same experience? If so, I better don't touch this button, as it its function is completely unrealistic... October 30, 201312 yr Spot on, Felix. I've added a few user mods to disable the autothrottle (so the SPD button won't do harm, in fact, it won't do anything then) and allow for a go-around FD mode. The latter being activated by assigning the default FSX command to a hardware button. I haven't tried if the VC button works since I usually press a button on my hardware throttle to go around. Now, make a backup of the current aircraft.cfg at SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado TBM850. Then open the file with a text editor like Notepad and scroll down to the [autopilot] section. Change the following entries. autothrottle_available=0 pitch_takeoff_ga=8 This gives you a 8° pitch when activating the GA button mentioned. You can alter the value if you like. The autothrottle value is self-explaining I think. I would love to see Carenado offering a proper SPD hold function of course but I don't think this will happen anytime soon.
November 1, 201312 yr Author autothrottle_available=0 pitch_takeoff_ga=8 Hi CoolP (I couldn't find your real name ..) Thanks a lot for this great mod! I modified many aircraft.cfg files so far, but I was not aware that there is such an easy way to solve my problem. My TBM850 has gained another piece of reality. And I must say I am again and again surprised about the huge potential of FSX. We can read so many negative opinions about FSX (outdated, poorly coded and so on) but if we consider the age of this software and look at the amazing addons running well on this platform, we should appreciate this outstanding simulator even more! Yes, some tweaking is inevitable, but isn't it part of our addiction to always achieve the best possible perfomance of our rig? Thanks again; I also wish you exciting flights with the TBM and many other great aircraft. November 1, 201312 yr Glad it checked out, Felix. Now I hope it's ok to wish you many happy go-arounds.
