Removing Colour Schemes

Recommended Posts

Hi,

How is it possible to remove certain colour schemes from an aircraft I download. Whilst I appreciate some developers put a lot of time and effort into making 20 schemes for a single aircraft, I really only want one or two and don't want my FSX aircraft selection folder to be as large.

Which files do I delete within the aircraft folder to remove these schemes without creating any errors?

Thanks

You need to modify the aircraft.cfg of the plane you are looking to modify. The various liverymodels are defined under [fltsim.XX]. The aircraft.cfg file is located at Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\<YOURAIRPLANE>\aircraft.cfg

Back up stuff before you delete anything.

Remove the corresponding texture folder - "texture.delta", for example.

Remove the entry in the aircraft.cfg for the texture folder. Renumber your aircraft.cfg

FS.com has some good tutorials for learning your way around FS. This one shows you how to add aircraft: http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?2064-How-ToInstall-FSX-Aircraft-Liveries

Just do the reverse.

I understand, thanks. I knew which folder to delete, but I get a little lost when it comes to .cfg files. I'll do the reverse of an installation.

Many thanks

Simplest way is just put a ## in front if that paint's entrey in the aircraft.cfg...

for example you'd have:

##[fltsim.xx]
title=Douglas DC-3A DC-3 World Rally 2013

etc....

That'll remove the paint from the simulator without havingto renumber or delete anyting and you can reverse it in seconds if you want to being back a particular paint....
