  1. hehe, i know the feeling sometimes! All I know is EIN have four A320's on wet lease to Virgin, so I'd assume the other two Irish registered ones are theirs... Can probably find out for definite if you really want to know!
  2. Technically speaking the first four are Aer Lingus' not Richard's - he's only borrowing them Lovely looking paints, nicely captured! Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk
  3. Is there an option to tune to Shannon Centre once you're cleared to change frequency? Try asking them for flight following.... I can't remember whether it was any different using it in RoI (I suspect not), but I know I've never had any problems accessing it when I wnated it!
  4. It depends. REXe does two things, it installs textures into FSX and it runs as a weather engine. If all you want is the textures you can just install them into the sim, close REXe and work away. If you want it to provide the weather too, it needs to be running. Opus (another weather engine) injects the weather into the sim and the sim will display whatever textures it has installed, so to use REXe with Opus, just install the textures, close REXe, then run opus and FSX as normal... REX textures stay installed until overwritten with different ones or restored to the default. Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk
  5. That and AI... I've got WOAI and MAIW installed in individual folders within the simobjects folder, so I can switch them on and off via the FSX.cfg... Without AI FSX loads in about a minute, with both enabled it takes about 7-8 minutes...
  6. FTXG>GEX but not by too much, the biggest upside of using FTX is that it covers the whole planet. If you plan on doing much flying in out of the way areas then it's well worth it!
  7. I'd be looking at your monitor anf GFX card settings to see if you accidentally enabled 3D mode (upgrade your GFX drivers or anyhing recently)... AFAIK there's no 3D elements in REX4 (I certainly haven't found any!)
  8. The islander has a gps, it's just rather old fashioned... You could always just not use the gps where there is one... Nobody'll force you to switch it on! Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk
  9. Typing as I'm taking a break from repainting an FS9 aircraft with far too many separate texture sheets, I can safely say that anything beats fiddling with DXTbmp! If only there was an extended-bmp plugin for photoshop :(
  10. Interesting... Didn't know that method, cheers! That's the great thing about PS so many ways to accomplish your goals... Normally I create a normal image layer with the greyscale alpha image I want and copy/paste it into the alpha layer... Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk
  11. Try PlanG it's a far better planning tool than the built in one. Gives you a good map interface and of you have fsupic installed (free version is fine) you can plug it into the sim and it'll track you on the map, display traffic and give you lots of flight information enroute. Only snag is you have to alt-tab to view it while in game if you're running fullscreen... Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk
  12. sounds like you texture needs to be flipped... There's a checkbox when you're saving throught the plugin to automatically flip the texture, make sure it's checked (or rotate your canvas 180 if you're working on a nupside-down texture sheet!).
  13. Well, I've spent a while browsing the screenshots on ORBX... The only POI that's stood out to me so far is the Poolbeg power station - missing those would be as bad as omitting the H&W cranes from Belfast... hmmm EIDW looks extremely basic - apparently they didn't bother doing much with it as Aerosoft are working on one.... The mountains appear soft and rounded which says that, like NI, there is no upgraded mesh for this scenery. The ground textures, like with NI, look extremely good and highly appropriate for the Irish countryside. EICM looks pretty good, but the terminal building seems to be a large hangar now, there's a fantastic freeware offering out there. EIKN looks pretty basic, but I'm not familiar enough with the airport to know what's right or wrong.
  14. No mesh = no buy, wasn't pleased with NI Wonder how many landmarks and custom objects they've included... Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk
