March 28, 201412 yr Think maybe you were in the airspace of a big airport when you happened to ask? That would happen in other countries as well if that was the case.
March 28, 201412 yr Author The situation is exactly the same. The tower controller gives me permission to change frequency when I am something like 3 or 4 miles from the airport. However, the options are different in the Republic of Ireland when compared to the UK. March 28, 201412 yr Is there an option to tune to Shannon Centre once you're cleared to change frequency? Try asking them for flight following.... I can't remember whether it was any different using it in RoI (I suspect not), but I know I've never had any problems accessing it when I wnated it!
