Wondering why ANZ are training All Nippon pilots ? Large airline like All Nippon would have their own training program I would have thought. Seems they have a contract though, with ANZ.

 

Unless, they have no spare 747's available.

Air New Zealand Boeing 747-475 ZK-SUH operated a Christchurch – Christchurch circuit this morning as NZ6086 as part of a contract to train flight crew for All Nippon Airways.

Probably cheaper to contract the training vs have their own inhouse but if they are running like JAL then they are slowly phasing out the 747's like you said and its harder to fine a spare one for training.

This is unusual, IIRC neither ANA or JAL operate passenger 747 flights, and NCA cargo tend to hire foreign (usually american) type-rated aircrew. When ANA and JAL do base training they tend to do it at Shimojishima.

Ok, after a bit of detective work, it is for the new All Nippon flights into Christchurch for the NZ summer Must be a famil for the Flight crew.
