November 9, 201312 yr Having never had the privilege to be in the cockpit of a real 777, I wonder if pilots can see the wingtips from the cockpit? I fly using trackir and have not seen them. Not modeled or impossible to see in real life? Dave P. Woycek
November 9, 201312 yr but what about the strobes? as from outside it looks like you could see them from the VC if you look left and behind...did pmdg just dont include that effect? If you can´t read it, you can´t fly it. Real world B777F pilot
November 9, 201312 yr I guess you wont see them as much as in the NG because the wing tip is much higher off the ground than the NG, being higher up means less "splash" effect, so the strobes reflecting off the ground isnt visible from the flight deck but may be visible from the cabin. This is just my assumption Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.
November 9, 201312 yr Commercial Member but what about the strobes? as from outside it looks like you could see them from the VC if you look left and behind...did pmdg just dont include that effect? You can't see anything, you would need to open the window and stick your head out. Rob Prest
November 9, 201312 yr You can't see anything, you would need to open the window and stick your head out. maybe in the real one, but not in the PMDG ..i´m sure you were able to see the strobes from the VC: If you can´t read it, you can´t fly it. Real world B777F pilot
November 9, 201312 yr Commercial Member You mean the reflection of the strobes.... I have no idea, anyway nothing to do with the op's question Rob Prest
November 9, 201312 yr You mean the reflection of the strobes.... I have no idea, anyway nothing to do with the op's question You can't see anything, you would need to open the window and stick your head out. what does that mean then? If you can´t read it, you can´t fly it. Real world B777F pilot
November 9, 201312 yr Commercial Member That was actually aimed at Dave, in order to see the wingtips you could in theory open the flight deck window and lean out. I'm sure this member of the ground staff had no problem seeing the wingtips... Rob Prest
November 14, 201312 yr Yeah Rob's more than likely correct on that. I've not seen any videos or photos from that angle. However for the 744v2 it'll probably have a similar effect as the NGX since you can see eng 1/4 normally I think! - Luke Pabari
