November 9, 201312 yr Ooops... a lot of George Diemer's Fs9 Sikorsky S-40 is now transparent. It was fine in the previous revision so I guess a reinstall of that revision is required. SOH Staff
November 10, 201312 yr Commercial Member Is that a legacy aircraft, if so move the slider to the right. If that fixes it and any Eula allows you can then tag the aircraft with dx10 toolbox. There shouldn't be any change between build 19 and 24. There is a difference between the original builds however, the dawn dusk fix can have an impact depending on slider position and aircraft use of specular. My FSX Analysis Blog
November 10, 201312 yr Author Hi Steve, Thanks for the prompt reply. I've had the slider to extreme right and the results are the same. I will try a few other things in the tool box. Roger. SOH Staff
November 10, 201312 yr Commercial Member That's puzzling then. Do you know what build you previously had installed? I see its freeware , which version do you have, I can download and take a look.wont be today though. My FSX Analysis Blog
November 10, 201312 yr Commercial Member Ok I found and downloaded it. I don't think its a build19/build24 issue. I think that you had turned on the 8bit fix and after a new install this defaults to off. Turning it on will fix it but it generally isn't a good idea to leave it turned on as it will affect adversely many legacy airports (although you may not have any) The best solution is to use the toolbox and assuming that you have ImageTool from the SDK use the toolbox function to convert all 8 bit textures to DXT1. I have tested and this fixes the problem. To do this using toolbox you must first set the path to ImageTool and then select the texture directory for the plane to convert. there are two in this case. I would also recommend talking some time afterwards with ImageTool to create mipmaps for the textures - this will improve the IQ. My FSX Analysis Blog
