FSCharter Commander Opinion Offered

Featured Replies

I've checked in here for the last few days to see if anyone had purchased the FSCharter Commander, but I haven't seen anyone offer an opinion yet. Well, I have one now because I purchased it this evening. I certainly am no expert on FS add-ons, but I do own most business jet and GA add ons out there, mostly FSD and Eaglesoft products. So I think that I have a good idea about what quality is in FS design. Having said that, I suggest that you don't buy this addon. I have waited a long time to get a TurboCommander in FS9, so I jumped for joy when I got the email that the commander was finished. I waited until tonight to purchase to see if anyone had any experience with it. Having seen none, and wanting to be supportive of a new desgn group, I bought the commnader. My expectations were quite high for a $25 addon because that suggests a product is as good as FSD, Eaglesoft and DreamFleet. Unfortunately, it is not. The external model is adequate, but it is the panel, vc and interior that is an extreme letdown. The panels are all photoreal (read out-of-focus photos with gauges on them), and the interior is very out of focus and sparse. (I run with AA@8 and AF@8 and quality settings)So having said all that, I don't want it to seem that I am out to dog this new group, but I know that I would have appreciated hearing this from other simmers before I sunk my 3 hours pay into this addon. I hope this post will help you make your decision.

Rightseat:thanks, you saved me money. Was about to buy this myself, hesitated based on the not too promising screenshots - then saw your post. Of course, annoying that you forked over the money without really knowing what you would get. ricardo

Glad I could help. :>

Unfortunately (that's what I need to say) I purchased the Commander as well. Buggy gauges was my first impression, the whole thing is sub-standard in my eyes.Wrote the developers a mail with my complaints, they told me they need help to make the bird better and that a patch will come out to resolve the currently existing bugs.So far, not so bad news: many products rush to market and then are followed by some patches.Nevertheless there's already a smaller Commander which is freeware, but also has glitches in the panel. So, at its current stage I simply cannot recommend the product at all.For that price I'd think twice before buying the product. Maybe I'm trying to get a refund, it's marketed by Flight1...Andreas
