Dreamfleet 727 has an awesome sound set...

Featured Replies

One of the things that has bothered me with add-ons like the Altitude Concord is the sound set. Most sound packages have one feeling as if they were sitting right on top of the APU and Engines. Altitude is very bad with this. I designed a alternative sound set but Altitude wasn't having it because my updates used some of their '.wav' files...I must admit I was leaning more towards CaptainSim but Dreamfleet has done a wonderful job. What's most impressive to me is now we have a very accurate sound set for this type of aircraft. One shouldn't hear engines over wind noise when the engines are located in the back of the plane (Lago I hope your reading this concerning the MADDOG). Dreamfleet got this right on the money and on this level it's really a first as far as I've seen in FS. Whoever designed the sound set for the DF727 I'd like to say thank you... This aspect alone is worth the price of admission. I hope other developers take note when they develop aircraft with engines in the rear of the airplane. I had to comment on this feature since everyone else has covered everything else about this awesome release... :-beerchug

100% agreed, these are probably the best sounds I've ever heard for an airliner addon - sounds absolutely like the real thing, even down to the way the spoiler sound gradually fades in as they raise. Great great job to Mike Hambly on these and anyone else involved in programming them into the panel.

Glad you like the sounds, but let me add: The engines being at the rear makes little difference when it comes to the cockpit / forward part of the aircraft.I've been in jet cockpits with wing and tail mounted engines (727, 737 & 747) during cruise (35,000 - 39,000'), and all you hear is wind / air conditioning noise also. What you will find is that engine sound level varies depending on altitude. Sound does not travel well in the rarefied air at 30,000 + feet, but does at lower altitudes.I recall a flight in row 1 on a 777. During takeoff the engine noise, while somewhat muffled, was quite noticeable. Once at cruising altitude all one could hear was the sound of the air conditioning.I walked to the rear of the cabin and, yes, the engine sound became more apparent. It was the same when I flew on a 757.So, at cruise altitude, whether wing or rear mounted, wind / AC noise is mostly what you will hear up front. Engine sounds will then become more pronounced as you walk towards the rear, and at lower altitudes.Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg

Hi there,I couldn't agree more. The sounds are simply stunning, my favourite sound is the thrust reverse. Set your tower view a few 100 feet away and just listen!!!!I've done my share of time at an airport that had tons of 727's coming in (Pan Am) and they sounded just like that IMHO. Thanks to Dreamfleet I can experience that again in the sim, just like when I was taxing around those super loud 727's and DC-9s in Sanford, FL.Cheers,Petehttp://members.aol.com/pzsoulman/myhomepage/logo.gifAMD64-3400,1GB/2700DDRAM,WinXP(SP2),DirectX9.0c,Geforce6800(128MB)(Det.66.81), CH Yoke/Pedals
