November 25, 201312 yr I've search the forums and Google (mother of all knowledge) but keep coming up blank. I'm hoping someone here will have the answer to my problem. The issue: when flying the Q400 I use FSX's default ATC. I load the flight plan, enter the details into the FMS, dial in the radio frequencies via the FMS tuner and communicate with the default ATC using the standard Press 1 for saying this, 2 for saying that system. Everything works perfectly for almost an hour. Then, inexplicably, the default FSX ATC stops giving me an option to reply. I can still hear it talking to me, but there's no way to select a reply (in fact, reply options aren't presented on screen). IFR flight guidance gets cancelled on me by ATC and I have to continue as VFR - which works fine. Any ideas on what's going on? Any hellp would be appreciated! Thanks!
November 25, 201312 yr Commercial Member This is a known FSX bug. Not sure what the fix for it is. I have encountered it with a few complex add-ons in my hangar.Sorry that I was not of much help, hopefully someone maybe able to chime in. January 14, 201412 yr Few months old post now - but might be useful. Happens to me now and again with various FSX aircraft. The very easy fix is to just roll your active radio frequency off the station, wait a banana or two - then if you open up your ATC window again you should have the option to tune the same station present again. It usually happens to me when ATC are waiting for a response, and when I get back on freq the response is visible and there waiting for me to select again so no problems. Cam F.
January 14, 201412 yr This happens to me a decent amount (I don't own the Q400) and it is usually only on approach. I just switch to another frequency then switch back and that fixes it.
April 21, 201412 yr Just wanted to confirm that this has happened to me as well on my flight from EDDV to LFML with the Q400. I was instructed by ATC to climb to FL100. Done, and then waited for instructions to continue climbing to FL230, my cruise altitude. Almost half an hour elapsed, and still no clearance to climb further. I requested a change in cruise altitude, but I got no response, and the ATC window went completely blank without any options. Even changing the radio frequency wouldn't show them up. So I was forced to continue flying without using the air traffic controller, which was sort of a relief... (The most annoying aspect of the FSX ATC is the ridiculously frequent frequency changes).
