December 17, 200421 yr Rob, i was just trying to answer the thread, i was not wishing to infer that either was better or worse than the other, but clearly (and most would not argue this) the Spitfire is the pretty one of the pair. the picture was to show the 2 planes not as "warbirds" but as high powered GA aircraft, they must draw comparison though as both are the same type of aircraft; high power liquid cooled V12s in late WWII fighers. Also not only are they both the same kind of aircraft in real life, but in FS9 they have both dispenced with 2D cockpits; this is one area where the spitfire wins, its cockpit is fully dynamic whereas the Yak's cockpit was released before the SDK and must be controled by keystrokes or the joystick. As to the race, i think you may have misunderstood my meaning; for years i have been racing online GPL and NASCAR, and even taken part in dogfights and online flying, the king of racing i was advocating was a combination of all these elements, and i still think this would be very popular and enjoyable. I was thinking of some kind of Pylon racing online, where people could use the "warbirds" avalable for FS9 with suitable liveries (like in the pictures), we could have Spitfires, Yaks, Mustangs, Lavochkins, Aerocobras, Corsairs, etc. this not needless competition (which i wholheartedly agree with you on) but fun.
December 17, 200421 yr Author HI Bruce,All understood! Fair points. As long as we don't get into a RealAir vs Captain Sim debate....you know how threads like these often end up!!Kind Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
December 18, 200421 yr Author Hi Par,I don't have Track IR installed but other reports seem to indicate there are no problems at all. Even if there were, you can off course adjust our realview settings or even turn them off, either while flying or before you start F2004 using our control panel.Kind Regards,Rob Young www.realairsimulations.com Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
December 24, 200421 yr Hi Fellow Simmers and MErry Christmas to all of you.I have acquired the Real Air Spitfire and I am very happy with it.I never expected to cause a CS vs Real Air Debate regarding the Yak 3 and Spitfire. Since I own the YAK 3 I thought to ask if there were any additional improvements in the Spitfire package. Having tried it the only thing better is the VC which is stunning and more frame rate friendly than the Yak 3. Other than that they are both fine representations of WW2 warbirds. I would love to see a Me-BF109 one of these days.Regarding the Spitfire, I have two questions:1. Where is the forum for real air?2. Can we please have some desert schemes??
December 24, 200421 yr "1. Where is the forum for real air?"No forums per se. But Rob is a very close analogy to the VISA card... he's everywhere you wanna be. Seriously, just e-mail him. He usually responds quickly (I wonder when the man sleeps)."2. Can we please have some desert schemes??"And more civi's too please.Greg
December 24, 200421 yr Hi"1. Where is the forum for real air?"No forums per se. But Rob is a very close analogy to the VISA card... he's everywhere you wanna be. Seriously, just e-mail him. He usually responds quickly (I wonder when the man sleeps).I think that Realair should seriously think about getting a dedicated support forum.Afterall they do charge a nice buck and those people that have general questions about FS most likely are`nt too amused seeing their questions getting bumped off the front page of this forum.Troy
