Magvar.dat is missing

Featured Replies

Hi,

I install some aircraft update (Airbus Xtended and Twin Otter) and also play with my magnetic files for updating them. After starting FSX I have "FMS error - unable to find magvar.dat ". So, may be I erase a file. But where can I find this file without reinstalling FSX (what the mess and pain...) and where to put this file?

Any help please welcome.

Thanks

Michel

Use the Repair Install option after putting DVD 1 in the drive.

I know,

But it will requires a rinstall of all the addons !!!

It is not a real solution for me.

Thanks.

Michel

Why? A repair install replaces missing files.

Hi Folks

Michel -

magvar.dat is not a default FSX or FSX Acceleration file.

It'll be related to one of your addons.

Thanks Paul and JSkorna :

  • Happy to know that it is not FSX or acceleration related.

For JSKorna :

  • Sir, I do not know very well how the repair fonction work. So, if I understand, you mean that no .dll nor .exe or .cfg will be replaced or reinitiallized ?

Thanks again

Hi Folks

Michel -

Do not run the FSX repair utility.

magvar.dat is not a default FSX or FSX Acceleration file.

The FSX repair utility will not create or restore NON-FSX files.

Don't worry Paul, I didn't restore anything yet.

May be it is Aerosoft aircraft related with there new update for P3Dv2. I will wait a little then apply futur patch from them. I will take some time to install and portover some addons for my new Prepar3Dv2 software.

Michel.

Reinstall Aerosoft Airbus X.

Look online (google) for aero.sors.fr or "magnetic variation FSX" - you can download an updated file there for 2013

OK, everything is well set now.

What I do :

  1. Uninstall Airbus X (forget to uninstall the first time), uninstall Airbus Xtended and Uninstall Twin Otter.
  2. Clean manually residuals files and the fsx.cfg.
  3. Reinstall everything.

Problem solve.

thanks you for all of your intervention here.
