  2. Hi Folks I've uploaded a minor revision. 20160716 - - Revised Version (v 1.0.0.43) - Tidied up various 'Tips'. - Separated various similar topic 'Tips'. Download from FS-Shipyards.com - MS FLIGHT - CORE - UI - Upgrade - MissionLoadScene - Tips - 20160716 Andreas - Thankyou & yes please, though it may be a while. HTH ATB Paul
  3. Hi Folks ROTFL I read the initial sentences, and thought, how apposite. The last one threw me somewhat. Brain, ticking over, he's obviously either forward thinking or a time-traveller. Whichever, he's taking an extremely long view. Except, I'd read that 'laughable pile of garbage' with my eyesight, as being Windows 10. Which in that context, still applies. ATB Paul
  4. Admins - If you delete posts at least have the courtesy to post saying that you'd done so.
  5. Hi Folks AIUI - Whilst Flight-School's lessons utilise pre-recorded audio dialogs, as heard in DTG's own 'Approach & Landing Lesson' video, ATC's audio utilises a "Text-To-Speech" engine. Mission dialogs can also utilise TTS. From what I've heard so far in 8 off, 3rd party reviewer's videos, all 'voices' appear to be, those available for Microsoft's OS's built-in TTS, SAPI-5 engine. Whether the final-release product utilises a 3rd party TTS engine, or, Microsoft's OS's built-in TTS, hopefully it might include additional 'voices'. Side note - The audio heard in both video sources - - DTG's - Lagging by up to 4 seconds. - 3rd party's - Disjointed / slow output. being symptomatic of cfg's slider settings being set too high, for their PC's currently available resources. HTH ATB Paul
  6. Hi Folks Glad that you all can now more appreciate your own career progressions, to date. My own, overly lofty level-73 rating, being solely due to beta-testing the, as yet to be released, "Cargo Series" jobs board missions. HTH ATB Paul
  7. Hi Folks Download from FS-Shipyards.com - CORE - MISC - Upgrade - CareerTrackDefinitions - Version 2 Oooops. Sorry about that. ATB Paul
  8. MS FLIGHT - ADDON - CORE - MISC - Upgrade - CareerTrackDefinitions - Version 2 For 'XP Grinders', and any aspirants. This addon upgrades FLIGHT's Core\Misc\CareerTrackDefinitions file, and when installed, supercedes all previously released versions. Flight's 'User Profile' displays a maximum of - - As Released - 'Level' 20, equating to 500,000 'XP'. - As Upgraded - 'Level' 100, equating to 128,000,000 'XP'. Hopefully more than sufficient, for most of your flying careers. These XP-Level definitions are based on the same numerical-progression as FLIGHT's original. Pre-Installation - Anyone who'd installed the previous CareerTrackDefinitions addon, should fully remove that CareerTrackDefinitions.addon. To remove - - START 'FTK Addon Manager' - SELECT the 'CORE - UI - Upgrade - CareerTrackDefinitions' - RIGHT-CLICK & DELETE the original 'CORE - UI - Upgrade - CareerTrackDefinitions' Installation - Due to changes implemented in FTK addon's loading-sequence, introduced in support of the 'FSX World' conversion addon, this CareerTrackDefinitions v2 now requires manual installation. Installation actions may require Administrator-level privelege. UnZip into a temporary location. The Zip contains 2 files - - Core_Misc_CareerTrackDefinitions.pak - README_INSTALL_Core_Misc_CareerTrackDefinitions.txt, (this file). Ensure FLIGHT is not running. Locate your folder containing "Flight.exe". Copy the 'Core_Misc_CareerTrackDefinitions.pak' file, into that folder. Using Notepad.exe, or another TEXT editor, (not WordPad, or Word), open 'FileLocator.config' from that folder. SELECT and COPY the XML MappingEntry line below. <MappingEntry LocationType="Zip" PhysicalLocation="Core_Misc_CareerTrackDefinitions.pak" VirtualPath="Core" /> Scroll to the end of 'FileLocator.config'. Find the closing tag </FileLocator>. PASTE the above COPIED line of XML into FLIGHT's default 'FileLocator.config' file, immediately prior to the closing tag </FileLocator>. Save your edited 'FileLocator.config'. Post Installation - Start FLIGHT.exe. Click PLAY. On FLIGHT's in-game menu, click 'PILOT PROFILE'. Your 'CAREER' profile page will be displayed, showing your 'XP' earned, matching 'Career Level', plus detailed performance data. If your currently active profile has earned more than 539,375 'XP', ('Career Level' 21), that profile should now display your appropriate upgraded 'Career Level'. Any problems - Post here in this thread. Author - Microsoft - Tweaked and extrapolated by Paul Donnelly, (BASys). Credits - Microsoft Games Studios HTH ATB Paul Donnelly (BASys)
  9. Hi Folks My apologies, to Kavinda, and anyone else who'd already downloaded. Just checking in-game and observed the final tip in the series, which had unexpectedly wrapped its text, thus hiding the last line, (5 line limit). I've uploaded a corrected version, (1.0.0.31), to the same link in my original post. Apologies HTH Paul
  10. MS FLIGHT - CORE - UI - Upgrade - MissionLoadScene - Tips When you load flights, missions, jobs, etc. are you bored with reading the same tips ? This addon package contains - - 112 new additional tips, quotes, & factoids for the 'scenery-loading' screen. - Plus 88 of FLIGHT's original 98. I've removed FLIGHT's website, survey, and GFWL related tips. The tips, quotes, & factoids, alternate between originals and new. All formatted for improved readability, (within 5 row limitation). When installed, and once in-game, tips will continue loading from whichever one you'd seen previously. i.e. They won't restart from tip zero. Please note - Currently this package will work on any FLIGHT language installation, however, the tips will be displayed in ENGLISH only. A future multi-language upgrade may become available if persons are willing to assist with translations. I'll supply the nescessary files, or raw text. 11. Hi Folks Jim - AIUI FLIGHT is a GFWL game. GFWL controls the location of installation. FLIGHT is being installed correctly into your previously chosen location, (or default) as defined in your GFWL 'Settings'. Can't confirm exact instructions, as my GFWL client keeps crashing, and won't update. Launch GFWL Client, open 'Settings', change the 'Game' folder to point at your SSD. Note - Only guessing here - GFWL only supports one 'Games' folder. Any other GFWL games you have already installed will probably have to be re-downloaded and installed to that new location. HTH ATB Paul
  12. Hi Folks Chris - No. The 'mesh-clinging water polys' coverage will extend to the entire photoscenery extents. Everyone - DO NOT bother attempting to install the above patch, it will fail, (unless you're still running FSX RTM), and wouldn't fix your 'blue squares'. That patch's terrain.dll is v10.0.61023 and is itself an extremely outdated version, extracted from MS's discontinued SP1. SP1A's terrain.dll v10.0.61355, superceded MS's withdrawn SP1. You should be running at least SP2 or Acceleration whose terrain.dll's are v10.0.61472 and 61637 respectively. HTH ATB Paul
  13. Hi Folks Those aren't 'white squares' they're actually 'blue squares', i.e. water polys. They're an artifact displayed when your sliders are set too high for your PC's currently available resources, and the photoscenery tiles subsequently failed to load. That photo-scenery has been constructed using an underlying 'mesh-clinging water poly' which allows their creator to just use a 'blend-mask' to create water surfaces, e.g. lakes & rivers. without creating a vector file to map the water areas. HTH ATB Paul
  14. Hi Folks Ooops, My apologies - The above only applies to FSX versions, and not to FSX-SE. FSX-SE always launches to the "Home" page. Sorry about that. ATB Paul
  15. Hi Folks For all FSX & FSX-SE versions - FSX always launches displaying whichever UI menu "TAB" you'd last accessed in your previous session, (if FSX performed a clean shut down). If FSX failed to shut down cleanly and fsx.cfg is corrupted, then FSX generates a new fsx.cfg. A new fsx.cfg causes the FSX UI menu to display the "Home" tab. For this initial access to the "Home" tab, FSX will display - - for FSX - the "Getting Started - Start flying now" page, (../fsweb/gettingstarted/gettingstarted.htm) - for FSX Acceleration - the "What's Changed - New for the Expansion Pack" page, (../fsweb/learningcenter/keyconcepts/whatschanged.htm) For ALL subsequent accesses to the "Home" tab, FSX will display - - if OFFline - "If you were connected..." page, (/Uires/gs01.htm) - if ONline- "FS Insider" home page, (http://www.fsinsider.com) P.S. fsinsider.com Microsoft still - - own the fsinsider.com domain. - provide the authoritative name servers for the fsinsider.com domain. - host the fsinsider.com domain. HTH ATB Paul
  16. Hi Folks eelis - Overall Graphics Settings - Only has 3 selectable options - Low, Medium, High. Custom is displayed if a non-default Sub-section selection is chosen. Sub-sections, e.g. Shadow Quality, Sharpness, Scenery Density, etc, have 4 options - Low, Medium, High, Maximum. HTH ATB Paul
  17. Hi Folks Steve - I've not spotted any indivdual 'generic building' T hangars. From what I'd seen looking at the BGLs - Depending on 'airport size'/'polys therein', Hawaii's airport's all comprise of single/multiple BGLs. Each BGL contains a single model. Each model comprises clustered visual object groupings, Each clustered visual object grouping contains - Multiple - building visuals, airport object visuals, cargo object visuals. All of which have been compiled from source into a single visual object. (guessing to reduce drawcalls). HTH ATB Paul
  18. Hi Steve These attempts were using the same profile for both. As the bin and hash files had matching timestamps I'd thought the new switcher might accomodate this. I've been using non-GFWL since its first release, so my profile has diverged substantially from GFWL. An occasional multiplayer session would be nice. Thanks for your continued hard work. ATB Paul
  19. Hi Folks Steve - Cheers for your latest. Ability to switch between modes is useful. Profile/Career bug issues - Before installation, or switching between modes, user's Profile/Career folder is not backed up to user drive OfficialGFWL - Every time the user switches from NonGFWL to OfficialGFWL they restart an entirely new career. That OfficialGFWL career persists & progresses only as long as they never switch back to NonGFWL. All missions/jobs/challenges are set as unflown. Aircraft paints are locked. NonGFWL - NonGFWL career profile loses some data - - Favourite Aircraft Type - Favourite Aircraft Hours - Unique Aircraft Flown - Airports Visited All missions/jobs/challenges are set as unflown. Aircraft paints are not locked. HTH ATB Paul
  20. Cheers Steve Working nicely here. ATB Paul
  21. Hi Folks Tom - Which FTK version are you using, GFWL or Non-GFWL ? What version are your GFWLive & Client exes ? Version # is displayed at the bottom of the GFWMarketplace - Settings page. My current working GFWLive.exe version is 3.5.0067.0. If your version is older than 3.5.0067.0, Kavinda had previously posted instructions for fully uninstalling, then downloading & installing the latest GFWL version components. See his post at - Just Flying Fun HTH ATB Paul
  22. Hi Folks LOL. Do you ever read the posts you reply to ? Example non-GFWL failures - i.e. non-GFWL fails i.e. non-GFWL fails i.e. non-GFWL fails i.e. non-GFWL fails Going by the version numbers cited, the issue is being reported for both GFWL and non-GFWL versions. For anyone who's been experiencing this error The error is GFWL failed to initialize. The remainder is only one possible reason why GFWL failed to initialize. Not the definitive reason. Maybe someone could try the following - Close the dialog. Close Flight. Stop your GFWL service, (Task Manager - Services - wlidsvc - Right-click - Stop). Do not restart wlidsvc. (If Flight needs it, launching Flight should restart it for you.) Reinstate any disabled / deleted dlls. Start Flight. Does the error occur now ? I'd have thought users of the non-GFWL FTK shouldn't be getting this error at all. Does the default shortcut to launch Flight, contain a call to launch GFWL ? My shortcut is one I'd made, directly to the flight.exe. HTH ATB Paul
  23. <Scots accent> Slew Noooooo ! Next you'll be wanting autopilots, followed by time-compression, then bombs, and missiles. Oooh wait, that last bit sounds fun. Steve - Hacktivate the Havok weapons. Seriously though, I'd much prefer not to have slew enabled, unless it could be locked into a developer-mode, where zero credit was given for flying hours/XP/missions, etc. Otherwise its too open for profile abuse. HTH ATB Paul
  24. Hi Folks It's not a global problem with the non-GFWL FTK. Across yesterday, from very early morning, till late, I launched a total of 26 different Flight sessions. Only once did Flight fail to load & launch a mission/job, (I think late morning UTC), and that was possibly model related. I'm running FTK 1.0.25.5. xlive.dll is dated 26/10/2014 10:49 Flight is installed to a non-UAC location. OS is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit. I've no pending Windows Updates to apply. I've rebooted, and Flight is still working today, (4 sessions). HTH ATB Paul
