December 23, 200421 yr Hello all :)Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but the screenshot forums rules dont allow text-only posts!I got some neat screenshots to share with all of you but they are too big for the forum. The screenshot size is 1024 X 768. When I try to make them smaller to satisfy forum size rules of 800 X 600 pixels the picture gets all squished up :(The A321 in the screenshot ends up looking like an A319!Yet I see some nice small screenshots from all of you - how do you make them smaller without distortion? What software do you use!?Thanks :)
December 23, 200421 yr You can download a free plugin for Windows XP that makes resizing screenshots a breeeze, basically you just right click on the pic and it will do it for you.I think it's available on the Windows xp home page; sorry I don't have a specific link at the moment.ricardo
December 23, 200421 yr Thanx a lot Ricardo! I found the XP Image Resizer plugin! :)Works great!!! Just what I needed!Heres the link incase someoneelse needs it (look along the right for the different plugins):http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx
December 24, 200421 yr Another thing you can do is crop the picture--this helps retain the detail otherwise lost by resizing. It's an especially good way to get finely detailed panel shots.-John
December 24, 200421 yr I posted shots in another post that were edited off for being too big, even though I'd taken them below 125Kbs they were still too wide and I had to take them below 800 x 600 which I hadn't realised so make sure of that part of it too. In fact I still don't understand what went on there!!
December 25, 200421 yr I prefer a combination of "Paint" (if I need to add anything to the screenshot) and Irfanview (Free) for sizing and changing to .JPG. You will never be able to retain the original quality...no matter what you try, in my experience. Getting a screenshot down to acceptable sizes, for the forum, guarantees a loss of quality. It's just that way, nothing is free. Victor Buck
December 25, 200421 yr Author 125KB is plenty for 800x600 or less. I usually post mine at 750x600 and I use Jpeg Imager (http://www.v-methods.com/ji/) for resizing and it also has very flexible and fast WYSIWYG compression tools built in. -
