Team,

Please could you give me some assistance, I am using the trial version at present of your new programme, however I am somewhat perplexed at the local winds being used around the UK airports.

Today at EGKK Zulu 10.00 you show winds at 6k @ 267/32 another well know weather engine that uses real time GRIB is showing 202/17?

The winds in ASN are extremely high all the way up through the layers further the surface winds in the UK are not high 190/7.

This is not a case of who is the best, what I am trying to establish where you obtain your wind data from and which is the most accurate as it appears ASN winds seem to err on the high side which also makes for rapid wind changes through the layers to quick for some aircraft.

many thanks ( a potential customer)

Hi Mark,

Please compare the winds aloft to real world winds aloft data sources to establish accuracy.  We've confirmed ours to be very accurate and I've looked at the EGKK area and confirm this just now.  There are many sites out there, here is one: http://www.airjourney-weather.com/Europe.html#Winds.  Surface winds are not indicative of aloft winds for several reasons, the most important being surface friction and terrain.  Rapid wind changes should never occur in ASN due to integrated wind smoothing, unless you've installed FSUIPC 4.924 or 4.925, which has a known issue interfering with ASN wind control that is pending resolution from FSUIPC (www.hifitechinc.com/forums for more information and older version link).

I use Foreflight on my iPad, which gives worldwide "official" NOAA forecast winds aloft. Right now, at 15:00Z 15 Dec the forecast at EGKK at 6000 feet is 231 degrees at 46 knots.

Damian,Jim,

Thanks for taking the time out to answer my question, really enjoying the trial and will be picking this up. Agree the wind does not shift as I have just completed another landing.

The only other thing I have seen and it could be my set up but I am running a i7 2700 oc 4.5 and a gtx 770 4gb is the clouds, they seem to appear in a grid pattern and fill in if you know what I mean, it sort of draws a square first then fills in...

Anyway I expect it is one of my settings..

Many thanks and seasons greeting
