December 29, 201312 yr Hi Everyone, in the last 4 flight i am having this problem. Once i load the flight and insert altitude for cruise at FL390 and insert CI at 80 SID STAR and so on from whatever airport i leave i have that the first altitude is 170 knots. Th eplane climb and stop at 170K but in the climbing page there is written 250/10000 and climbing at 313 after it. In the LEG page of the FMC i read 170/FL349. I think it is pretty impossible a 777 fly at 170 knots at Fl340 since it means i have to keep flaps down till that altitude so i am forced to change the speed manually in the FMC in the leg page. THis happened leaving EFHK, same Leaving VTSP, Same leaving BIKF so it is not a costraiunt even if i am sure no airport and no sid have a costraint till FL 340. What happened to MY 777? And i launch FSX as Administrator and the panel state saved is long haul. And it happened only in the last 5 flights no other flights what i installed and disinstalled was FS recorder, nothing else, and i know it may be possible it is something i did but i dont know what The more at any flight in VNAV after reaching fFL 300 the speed commanded by the FMC is 220 knots so the plane rocket up and speed move down i need to climb in FLCH otherwise the speed is at the limit of the stall speeed. Shouldnt the VNAV prevent the stall? And more why if in the leg page there is not this value and in the climb page neither i do have this odd speeed? Thanks everyone. Alfredo Russo
December 29, 201312 yr I've had this problem before. There has been posts in the forum about it. Not too sure what causes it, but PMDG state in the issue tracking thread that they have replicated the problem/bug and will be fixed in SP1. December 29, 201312 yr Author Well if it is going to be fixed there is no problems.. Thanks for ur quick answer Alfredo Russo
December 29, 201312 yr Well if it is going to be fixed there is no problems.. Hi, Alfredo, In the meantime, while awaiting a fix, try a different startup panel state (but NOT the PMDG-supplied Cold & Dark state -- that is known to be buggy). Perhaps delete whatever you have set for default startup state. Then it will start up with engines and systems running. See if that helps. Also, if you are using the same flight when you start up, try starting up with a new situation. Hope this helps, Mike
December 29, 201312 yr Untill SP1: Make sure there is no crazy speed limit in the LEGS page before T.O. Limit speeds on the LEGS page are printed with BOLD numbers by the way. Delete anything that does not look righ. (FMC calculated estimates are in small numbers) Make sure you are flying in ECON on the FMC VNAV CLB page (the CLB page should not be titled something like MOD or ACT 170kt CLB. if it does, press the ECON button to revert to normal speed) Since this sounds more like an FMC error then a user error, try entering a new Cruise FL in the FMC. Even overwriting the current Cruise FL with the same one again might solve it. You just need something that makes the FMC recalculate. (FMC screw ups happens in the real 777 as well sometimes and entering something so it has to recalculate usually does the trick) Rob Robson

December 30, 201312 yr Interesting to know! Maybe PMDG's SP1 can be applied to the real T7  ! Mike Haha yes, all we need is a hack and an interface to get in ;-) I heard a rumor years ago, that even real 777 software runs on Windows! Scary right?! Rob Robson
December 30, 201312 yr I heard a rumor years ago, that even real 777 software runs on Windows!Scary right?! Very! On approach into the NY area @ 5PM on a Friday afternoon, "Windows has experienced a general protection fault [whatever that is] and needs to close." I once did get on an ERJ and the pilots announced they had an error message regarding the spoilers, and that they were going to try "rebooting the system" just like on a home computer! (Didn't work -- there was a delay for repairs.) But more seriously, I doubt they use Windows; I would guess it wouldn't be needed when the system is designed for a highly specific use and a specific set of screens. Someone once told me they use relatively old chips, like 486s, for these systems as their reliability is better. Mike
