December 29, 201312 yr Hi, Can anyone help with this problem that I ended up with after using "mklink /j" to move my complete FSX folder to a new drive. Some files got corrupted during the transfer but these I managed to repair with my FSX CD. However I am currently left with a shader problem, FSX crashes out with the following error.... initialising shader enviroment device->GetBackBuffer failed I have rerun Steves DX10 scenery fixer incase that might have fixed things - but no change. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Barry Barry Wells

December 29, 201312 yr Commercial Member Poster Holland_Holland was suggesting that you delete the compiled shader directories that live under <you username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX I think that's worth trying at least. Do NOT delete the ShadersHLSL directories which hold the source files. What you really need to find is if anyone has successfully set FSX up as you describe. I have moved subdirectories of FSX in the past to other drives and used soft link (mklink /s) (such as Scenery,Texture,SimObjects) but I have never tried moving the whole directory via a link. December 30, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the helpful suggestions guys. The problem turned out to be something in SweetFX. I didn't isolate it, just reinstalled the complete latest package V1.5 and now everything works great. So I can confirm using "mklink /j" to move the entire FSX directory with everything in it does work. All my sceneries, aircraft, logbook and missions intact. Regards. Barry Barry Wells
