January 1, 201412 yr I keep getting flashing black skys and textures often after I press certain keys such as full flap ke (F8) or try to start instant replay (1st image). The problem will exist until I restart the sim and even the opening screen will show black everything (second picture). Following is the information about my rig and FSX. FSX Accelaration (SP2), UT GEX USA i7 920 OC to 3.8ghz NVidia GTX275, Driver 331.82 12 MB Triple Channel RAM Windows 7 64bit
January 5, 201412 yr A black startup screen indicates high fsx settings and/or lack of VAS. Is your HDD making thrashing noise indicating it's trying to load things? This will happen 100% of the time. The only other possible reason would be a bad installation of an aircraft where the thumbnail would not appear. In your case though you are trying to load an Acceleration product. Running out of virtual address space (VAS) can happen as soon as you start up FSX especially if you have a lot of photoscenery installed and all of it is enabled. In the AVSIM CTD Guide, there's information about running out of VAS and possible solutions. If you have a lot of scenery installed, you should only load what you will be using during a flight session. AVSIM recommends using the utility SceneryConfigEditor (link in the AVSIM CTD Guide). EDIT: I just noticed in your OP that you state you have Acceleration (SP2) installed. You cannot have both installed. It's one or the other. This could be your problem too. SP2 is the same as Acceleration except SP2 does not have the Acceleration addons and it is coded so that you cannot use Acceleration addons. Best regards, Jim Thank you Jim, I should try to explain this better. The sim starts normally. It only gets messed up when the sim is stopped (not paused) . This only happens after when simulation is stopped such as for instant replay or after an aircraft crash. Then after the graphics gliches start, the start-up screen also gets messed up. But this is not limited to start up screen. Another thing that happens is that all my 3D objects disappear. The only way to fix it is to restart FSX. I only have acceleration installed which includes SP2. No hard drive noises either.
January 5, 201412 yr I only have acceleration installed which includes SP2 It does not include SP2. It includes SP1. SP2 and Acceleration are completely different software programs. If you have SP2 and Acceleration installed, then you will have major problems with FSX. You need to find out what caused FSX to stop working (see the AVSIM CTD Guide). Look at the reports that were generated by the Event Viewer and/or AppCrashView. Most likely the sim crashed or stopped working because it was running out of VAS or other memory issues. Restarting without completely shutting down FSX and restarting will cause your system VAS to continue to deplete (the 4GB of VAS is not just for FSX, it's for your whole computer system). January 7, 201412 yr I only have acceleration installed. So if acceleration does not include SP2 and yet can not coexist with SP2 what is one to do? Uninstall Acceleration in order to get SP2? To explain.... Acceleration was released BEFORE SP2. Microsoft wanted to update FSX and give it DX10 compatibility. Acceleration is pay ware and has all of the programming updates that are in SP2 except for the added aircraft, missions, scenery, etc. Microsoft wanted to release a freeware fix to FSX bugs and that was SP2. They released Acceleration first thinking (rightly) that most people would not wait for the release of SP2 and would go for the pay ware option. About two months later, SP2 was released. It is coded so those using SP2 cannot have any of the pay ware on the Acceleration disk. Acceleration includes SP1 only. If you try to install Acceleration and SP2 it could (well, it will) be a very bloody mess for the user. Hope this helps!! Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
