January 2, 201412 yr Hello, I've noticed that the analogue RMI requires the IRS to be aligned in order to work. If I tune in a VOR, the needle doesn't point to the station, regardless if I'm in the air or on the ground with the IRS unaligned. I've searched through the FCOM but I can't find anything that verifies this behaviour. Is this behaviour true to the real NG or is it a bug? Best regards Johan Nordqvist Johan Nordqvist

I don't have a 100% verifiable answer, but I think that this may be correct, as the RMI gets its card data from the IRS. If the IRS isn't aligned, you will not get accurate info on the moveable card, so I'm guessing it's locked out to prevent miscues with the crew expecting the card to be updated. Have you checked it in ATT mode to see what the result is there? Kyle Rodgers
