  1. Hello, I'm wondering if the user waypoint menu is fully modelled in the GNS430? The reason I'm asking is that I cannot create any user waypoints using the GNS430. I'm able to do it using the GNS430 simulator provided by Garmin but not in the Mindstar GNS430. I've been unable to do so on Windows 7, 8 & 10.
  2. The NGX is the ONLY addon that I've ever had where I can't complain about the sounds and trust me I am INSANELY difficult to satisfy when it comes to sounds. The only thing that would be better than the sounds provided by PMDG, is the real aircraft.
  3. I recommend that you look through the Normal Procedures chapter in FCOM volume 1. A detailed description of all the flows can be found there.
  4. I can see what the cause of your confusion is. The CDU Preflight Procedure is a procedure that can be done anytime after the Preliminary Preflight Procedure has beeb performed. This means that it can also be performed after the Preflight procedure has been completed. The reason the initial data and navigation data steps are included in the Preflight procedure is simply that these steps must be performed prior to checking the flight instruments. By including the initial data and navigation steps, you can still move on with the preflight even if the CDU Preflight Procedure hasn't been performed yet. In your case, the initial data and navigation steps have already been performed so you can simply ignore that item in the Preflight Procedure.
  5. Give the Normal Procedures section in the included FCOM volume 1 a chance. Most 737 operators use the flows found there. Also learn the Electrical Power Up and Electrical Power Down procedures found in Supplementary Procedures chapter 6.
  6. Hello! I've decided to build a new computer. What I'm currently aiming at a computer that's not a budget build, but rather something that's capable of some performance. It must be able to cope with the NGX + dual monitors + performance heavy addon scenery. I do know that I'll have to do some tweaking no matter what I buy, however I want a good starting point in terms of hardware. What I've come up with so far, is based on THE FSX COMPUTER SYSTEM: THE BIBLE - BY: NickN. However, as what I have in mind is rather expensive, I'd like some feedback and suggestions before I go ahead. Here's what I have in mind: CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K 3.5 GHz (Haswell) GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC ACX 3GB RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 8GB 2133MHz CL9 CPU cooler: Corsair Hydro H110 MB: ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO PSU: Corsair 850W RM series Chassi: Corsair Obsidian 750D (Note that I'm planning on using my current hard drives for now) Best regards!
  7. Yeah I agree, but I never found another solution. Takes a few more minutes but at least it works. If anyone who knows how FSX works, I would love to get an explaination for why this works. Johan Nordqvist
  8. What I do, is that I load the Cessna at a default, low detail airport. Next I load the NGX and undock the windows I need and move them to the other screen. The windows should not be black now and all there's left to do, is to go to the airport you want. Would I try to undock stuff while at a high detail addon airport, I get black windows too. Johan Nordqvist
  9. I'm gonna try the ATT mode and report back. Johan Nordqvist
  10. Hello, I've noticed that the analogue RMI requires the IRS to be aligned in order to work. If I tune in a VOR, the needle doesn't point to the station, regardless if I'm in the air or on the ground with the IRS unaligned. I've searched through the FCOM but I can't find anything that verifies this behaviour. Is this behaviour true to the real NG or is it a bug? Best regards Johan Nordqvist
  11. The way I see it, PMDG would require similar contacts and contracts with Airbus to be able to make an Airbus at the same level as NGX & 777. No doubths the modern Airbus airplanes are money makers and if it only came down to sales numbers, PMDG would probably go for it. All companies want to use as little energy as possible but still get as good results as possible. From that perspective it's wise to stick to whatever resources the company already have available. I'd guess that if a complex aircraft is made after the 747 V2, it's very likely to be a Boeing.
  12. From a market perspective, a plane from the E-series or a CRJ would be a wise decision as they are popular aircraft. Considering the fact that PMDG has good relations with Boeing it would be wise to make either a 737-3/4/500, 757 or 767 (all of these are popular aircraft that people see at their home airports). The only other option would be to go Airbus.
  13. One could probably be made by someone who knows basic programming and how to use the PMDG SDK. If a function like this could be added to the FMC by the PMDG devs, that would be very neat! ^_^
  14. Explaining the details on how I do my calibrating would take some time, but a few hints to get you going would be LINDA, FSUIPC (and the lua scripts).
  15. Since the MCP is part of what you see most of the time during flight it sure would be nice if it could be fixed.
  16. I too have noticed that the NGX Honeywell MCP font is smaller than the font on the real Honeywell MCP used on 737NG.
  17. My advice is that if you buy anything else than a joystick for FSX, then buy FSUIPC. It will allow multiple calibration profiles and it will allow you to caltibrate your flight controls and throttles way more precise than FSX default control settings. It takes some time to learn how to do those little neat things you wish you could do, however, after some trial and error, and tutorial reading, FSUIPC is a very powerful tool. Furthermore, the support you gete from Pete D as his customer is flawless! :)
  18. Since I enjoy shorter flights rather than long ones due the eventless nature these birds, these two won't make it to my computer. I have to agree with some other posts on the fact that there are a few 747-400's and 777's to choose from. Although these two are needed, there are other planes that haven't even got good freeware representations. The DC-8 and L1011 are such aircraft. Kudos to PMDG for making them though though!
  19. A DC-6B? Now THAT was an unexpected move! Cool of you guys giving an older lady some attention as well!
  20. Being a Scandinavian user of ther NGX, the -600/700 was well worth buying as SAS operates these models.
  21. I'll have to agree with James, what a f***ing AWESOME product. After having sorted some language issues with the copilot (trained my voice recognition profile), I had a blast with him and the NGX! THANKS A LOT!
  22. The following equation works for calculating the thrust at level flight:T = q*S*(((W / (q * S) - CL) / tan(AoA))) / cos(AoA)At least it works when using MSFS calculated AoA, Q and CL.Now, this doesn't solve climb thrust calculations, but it does solve cruise thrust calculations. (At least according to my data so far)
  23. Since it calculates fuel flow from thrust and the ammount of thrust needed to keep the plane at a constant speed has to deliver a composant that is equal to drag, it would be strange if side force wasn't part of the equation.
  24. I've noticed that side force seem to be unaccounted for in the currently known equations. A plane that is side slipping, SHOULD have a greater drag than a plane that isn't side slipping. I'm thinking about the fact that if a plane is sideslipping, the fuselage should cause some drag.I know this is mentioned in the Aircraft Airfile Manager, however, I've not seen it mentioned anywhere.
