New CPU which should I get

Featured Replies

so I live with what I have until I can afford a beefier Intel exclusively for simming.

And there is absoutely nothing wrong about it. I have done exactly that.

Hey if you have the AM3+ motherboard then it is only better than you upgrade to a 8350 or 8320 , they will perform.

I am on a 6300 and she is nice with FSX, all systems need some tweaking to be done.

correct, it doesn't matter what CPU you have, in the beginning there is some tweaking work to be done, with either Intel or AMD.

Dude I would love to go for a 8350. But my board is a rev 1.1 and all information I can find says that chip is not supported :(

Ah that's bad. do they have a BIOS update for the board ?  what about the 8320 is that supported ?

If the above are not supported at all and you don't want to change to the Intel Platform than these are the ones you go for

Ima lready on the latest firmware, dammit. Looks like you have to have the rev 3 board to support 8350 and 8320 :(

I can support 6300 not 6350.

here is my board and all compatible CPUs: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-970A-D3%28rev._1.0_1.1%29.html

Dude your board supports 8300 but does not show 8350 / 20 , don't know which this FX-8300 is and can not confirm the performance.

If you don't won't to risk it than

go for the 63xx series.

It definitely doesn't support 8350 - it doesn't support any 8 core 125 watt CPU. So does support 8300.

Is the 6300 better than the 6200? 6200 is 3.8ghz while the 6300 is 3.5.

Yes 6300 is better.
