January 9, 201412 yr I've only been to Okinawa once but had a great time around Naha and on some of the smaller islands. Absolutely beautiful in places but it's also Japan's poorest prefecture now and that shows in some areas. January 9, 201412 yr Author Thanx again, maybe someday I can visit, things have really changed, I lived right across the hwy from Naha NAS and the main terminal and this is where my love and obsession w/ airplanes really began. My dad and I would ride bikes down the flight line now and then, P2V's, F-102's and the older C-130's among many I could watch, including sea planes taking off in the ocean. Those were the days. :(
