Clearing Shader cache

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've seen it mentioned in several places that some P3Dv2 users routinely clear their shader or scenery shader cache??

What is the purpose of this,  is it worth doing on a regular basis and what files do you delete to let the sim rebuild?

Thanks

I see no use in doing this routinely. You only have to do this when you get a new GPU.

The files you have to delete are in Users/your name/AppData/Local/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D v2/Shaders/

I don't know about P3D, but in FSX I find that deleting the shader cache before every flight gives me fewer autogen spikes during flight.  I still see them occasionally, but not every flight as before.
