RNAV approach

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

What s the correct procedure to make RNAV approach with the 777? Imean LNAV AND VNAV Are engaged all disco in leg page deleted of course select a RNAV approach in DEP/APR page. But what i am askig is this aside VNAV and LNAV should i press Apr  too or it is not needed? I rememebr in the 737NGX Landing on RWY 9 In Phuket I pressed SAPR and i had GP showed insted of GS  and the plane started to descend like following a Glide. So i would like to know hw to fly a RNAV approach with the 777 thanks to everyone

I believe that RNAV approaches are usually flown using LNAV as roll mode and VNAV as pitch mode.

There's a section about this in chapter 5 of the FCTM. On page 37 in that chapter there's an illustration showing the steps for doing an non-ILS approach with VNAV.

The 737NG has Integrated Approach Navigation (IAN), which I do not believe the 777 has.  To use IAN, you would hit APP, but since the 777 does not have this, you leave it in LNAV/VNAV.

Other than that, I'd take a look at what Michael posted.  I'm always a supporter of looking to the manuals for the best answer.
