January 15, 201412 yr Hej all Last week after having some issues with some software I decided to uninstall and then reinstall both FSX and of course PMDG. When I first installed FSX all worked normally, however after I installed PMDG's wonderful B777LR FSX started to crash to desktop (CTD) with the following error Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61472.0 Application Timestamp: 475e17d3 Fault Module Name: g2d.dll Fault Module Version: 10.0.61472.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 475e180c Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0008408c OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: f3b5 Additional Information 2: 67157acfc10691bf1c01accd62406c5a Additional Information 3: b4f4 Additional Information 4: 686b80d14c6be7494511e7ba3684634 Find below all the details about my PC. Issue is I don't have a clue what is going on or how to fix this error and whats worse, until I resolve the issue I am well and truly grounded (something a girl never wants to hear) lol If anyone knows what this error means and how I can best resolve it I would be so thankful. I have already run a system check on windows and all is running normally. Until I did the reinstall I had been flying the PMDG B777 with out any issues for well over 350 hours... Oh and I have checked all my hardware - all is working fine. Could it be that when Windows uninstalled 'TheSims3' it removed or changed a file that FSX and/or PMDG needs? Thanks guys Kimberly Richmond-Jones

After a quick run through Google's results, I found one that might offer some ideas: http://www.anvisoft.com/dll-errors-fix-resources/212.html Basically, the g2d.dll error might be caused by add-ons (it specifically references scenery in the article) and registry issues. Since you reinstalled FSX and other items (scenery or not), but didn't say you reformatted your computer, the registry entries from your first install of FSX are probably still in there. As such, I'm betting there's a bad reference to that g2d.dll somewhere, and when something tries to go find it: CTD. The tool I use to keep tabs on my registry is CCleaner from Piriform (if you click on the link, you'll note a "download" and a "buy now" button - there's a free version if you just click "download"). It will back up your registry, analyze it, and clean it (removing, or fixing the appropriate entries). I'd give that a shot first, and then go from there. Kyle Rodgers
January 16, 201412 yr Now this thread is some way to improve my English. Sorry I can't help any further, though. :LMAO: What happened to AVSIM
January 16, 201412 yr Kimberly, What Kyle said is probably the problem. Old registry entries. When I reinstall FSX, I also install WIN7 again to avoid exactly this kind of problem, and who knows what other problems. You have a strong PC, latest and greatest, so I would want to use that without any lingering bugs/problems from the past holding me back (FSX needs all the performance it can get, and only a clean, well running WIN7 install can provide the right environment for that). So,.....it is a lot of work....but the best advice I can give you is to start from scratch: Do not run Overclocked while installing things! - Use one of the excellent Win7 install and tuning guides. (I can give you a link). - Then install FSX, again with the help of a guide! (have link) (this took me a few days) - Then save an image (Win7 has a build in image tool!) of your pristine WIN7 + FSX install. And protect that image with you life, haha! - then install addons. Kyles method is quicker and might work just fine. But personally I would go the longer and safer route. Rob Robson
January 23, 201412 yr Author Hej Thanks for your help guys I decided to do the right thing and did a complete wipe and re-install B) Currently flying from EGLL to KJFK and all is well again. Thanks for your advise! Kimberly Richmond-Jones
January 23, 201412 yr Well done :-) I really do hope you used a guide. A lot of important things are not in the default Win7 installation. Like a complete directX update, C++ library, etc etc. Also the sequence of installing FSX and its Service packs and acceleration is important. Dont forget to take an image of your working system as is! Will save you a lot of work if you ever have problems again. Rob Robson
January 23, 201412 yr Commercial Member Dont forget to take an image of your working system as is! *Grabs a camera* Thanks for your help guys I decided to do the right thing and did a complete wipe and re-install That's what I always recommend, though most recently, I just wiped one of my drives and cleaned the registry. Glad you got it sorted! Kyle Rodgers
